Lovely gallery across the street from Nepenthe. Variety of works, of course dependent on personal taste. Prices r "full gallery" i.e. there is nothing to buy as a small souvenir. But an easy 15 minute walkthrough to see some interesting pieces

A must visit for art lovers. World class works with incredible variety. The facility itself is exceptionally beautiful along with the outside walkways. Joan was an excellent host and guide through the gallery and gave such detailed background on the works and artists.

The gallery hosts the artwork of local Californian artists, some of them live as close as in Big Sur. I was enchanted by the wood sculptures of artist Terry Kuntz.

After dining at Nephente, stop at this gallery. Make sure not to miss the metal mobile just before entering the gallery and walk around the garden to admire the other pieces of artwork. Inside you will find painting, sculptures, carvings and so on. Worth a visit!

The Hawthorne Gallery is one of our favorites. It always seems to have forward out of the box artist and sculptures. The staff has been knowledgeable and friendly. Some pricey one of kind items that are truly works of art and passion.

Art is a family affair with the Hawthorne’s. Located along the scenic PCH in Big Sur, CA, Hawthorne Gallery is an eclectic display of just about every object from skilled artisans as one can imagine. Each Hawthorne is unique in their expression of painting, sculptures, furnishings, and jewelry. If the patron desires, Hawthorne art can be functional as well. They... More

The Hawthorne Gallery is a must-see for art-lovers and novices alike. The artistic and delightful Shelby Hawthorne provided our tour. The exquisite architecture of the gallery alone is stunning, not to mention all of the wonderful artifacts contained within AND outdoors. If only there were a Hawthorne Gallery where I reside....

We love this gallery and the folks who run it! The art is world class and always changes each year we visit. The owners are wonderful and the gallery itself is a work of art. This is a must visit if you are in the area and a reason itself to visit!

Beautiful contemporary art. Lots of outdoor art and fountains. Friendly staff. Be sure to look at all the outdoor art - out front and the back!
