We bought 'combined' tickets from Shanklin Railway Station, and connected to this delightful little railway. Nostalgia ruled thereafter, We crammed our group of ten into two individual compartments, travelled the full length of the track enjoying the countryside views, then returned to the main centre to have a wander around and watch the bird of prey display. Following this we... More

This was the 1st time I had been on the steam train since I was a little girl, it was lovely to go back with my own children, really fun experience & we're going to return at Christmas.

We came here for the Halloween event during the school holidays whilst on holiday to the beautiful Isle of Wight. I was in a wheelchair and was worried about how well we would be able to get me on and off a steam train. I need not have worried at all. The staff were AMAZING! They asked me if I... More

Many thanks for both your review and positive feedback. We have made some great progress in providing access for all visitors and we are delighted your visit was enhanced. We now have two vintage carriages that have been very discretely converted for wheelchair access. Our Havenstreet station site is flat and access to our new Train Story Discovery Centre is... More

We visited during a non holiday time but the railway was still busy with day visitors. The staff were all very polite and friendly and very switched on with the young children unlike other, bigger and more'professional' preserved railways. The welcome was very warm (unlike the weather). We opted for the tickets allowing onward travel on the 'main line' to... More

A great day out for all the family. Refreshments, shops, museums and lovely walks in the beautiful Isle of Wight countryside and to top it all a fantastic ride on the steam railway through the beautiful countryside, a blast from the past.

We went here for the Halloween fright night. Friendly helpful staff and good facilities. Felt the coffee could have been cheaper but other than that, I have no complaints. Loved all the items and signs in the woods and train story was very interesting

We spent a day here with grandchildren during Oct Half term. Apart from the steam train where you can hop on and off there was lots to do. There was a magic show (it was wizard week) a zombie maze which was very scary, a fancy dress competition and lots of other Halloween activities, crafts and stalls

The whole family enjoyed the day out on the steam railway. We rode the whole length of the track. We then walked round the steam story, this was both interesting and informative. We then got back onto the train and took a trip along the track again , my 3 year old Grandson be delighted at the sound of the... More

This is a mixed review for me..On my Partner's side he is a total steam train buff and any steam railway visit is a must.. I also think that these should be preserved and the volunteers work very very hard on doing this..The staff looked imaculate and the carriages were authentic and clean..The loco has been beautifully restored.....Yes ...the price...
