It is part of the National Tourist Route Hardanger in Norway. The best time to see this cascade is in May and June when the snow is melting. It is possible to see the cascade from the road. Next to the free parking lot there is a souvenir shop with a good italian espresso (Illy) and toilets for customers. It... More

This is a short stop but worth the visit. It is a short walk until you are behind the waterfalls. It is a great photo op.

It's amazing to walk behind this waterfall and watch all the water flowing down! You have to visit this waterfall.

We visited on a rainy day after the area had a very rainy month or more, so the water was running very well. We walked up under the falls.

Enroute from Bergen to Naeroyfjord, we took a break at this cute little village of Norheimsund where the Steinsdalfossen Waterfall is located. We were also happy to have such a picture perfect day that a walk up to, and behind the falls was a beautiful experience. The view back down the valley to the village was also quite beautiful. Well... More

We called here on a memorable day visit from Bergen, There are so many spectacular water falls in the beautiful Norwegian countryside. A steep path allows visitors to walk behind the fall at Steindalfossen and leads to a viewing platform just beyond the falls offering fine views over Northeimsund Foss I think means exploding water which is a good description... Fair warning, we visited Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall on a picture perfect day which highlighted Mother Nature at her best. Take the easy walk up behind, yes behind, the Falls and enjoy the view down to the Fjord, nothing created by humanity could be as beautiful

Saw the waterfall by the roadside on the drive to burgen. Pretty waterfall you can walk behind. Very pleasant stop off during the drive.

Stop off on cruise excursion. The car park is just off the road and better still there are a number of public toilets. If you are fit enough you can walk up the steep hill on a good path and it’s easily accessible from the car park however it was not possible to reach the top using our disability scooter.... More

One of my favourite scenes in the movie “Last of the Mohicans” was when they were behind the waterfalls. Steindalsfossen is just that. One can easily walk up the hill on a well maintained walk way, feel the force of the water behind the waterfalls without getting wet and walk up onto the platform to watch the falls tumbling downstream....
