Medium Level Adventure Cave. Self-guided. You are provided with a briefing, a torch and a helmet as you descend into the deepest cave in the area. There is no electric lighting and along the way you climb vertical ladders, scramble over rocks and in some places, walk on the cave floor. Not as decorated as some of the other caves but also has some stunning cave formations. For opening hours outside the holiday and peak seasons please contact Calgardup Cave 97577422

Giants Cave in Boranup forest is the best value cave experience for families. The self guided caving experience is ideally suited to families who want to have a less formulaic cave experience where you can move around at explore own pace. We took children ages 8 and 10 and they loved the mild physical challenge and unpredictability of the experience.... More

We have visited many caves in this area but none has given us the experience of the Giants cave. This was rated as the best of all my three children. They are from nine to fourteen years old. When the reception provided us with helmets and torchs, the feeling was great. The route was a challenge, only enlightened by us,... More

We've gone down quite a few commercial style caves in this area, all with the pretty lights and informative guides but this time decided to go down Giants Cave. Giants Cave is a large (hence its name) cave that has only had minimal enhancements to make exploring the cave easier. There are no guides and no artificial lighting, but helmets... More

Hi, thanks for the great review. It is quite a unique experience being able to go through on your own like that. It is a medium level adventure cave and as such children under the age of 6 years are not permitted. The nearby Calgardup Cave is also a torch lit experience and a much better option for younger visitors. More

Giants Cave is a great adventure - self guided, so you can go at your own pace and observe at your leisure. It is thrilling to climb up and down ladders and through narrow openings. The staff provide you with helmets and torch lights. Be prepared and wear good gripping shoes. It is considerably cooler as you descend, so it... More

Hi Scobie P, glad that you enjoyed your visit and thank you for the fantastic review. Because Giants Cave is a 'through' cave and you exit from a different place to where you entered, it can often feel like you are the only ones there! The natural air conditioning is fantastic too- sometimes in winter it can be warmer in... More

We went with my father and two young kids (8 and 6). Be mindful of the age limit (6) and get there early. We were the first ones in at 9:30 and by our exit and hour later there were already 20 people queuing to get in. What sets giants cave apart form it's competitors is the self guided adventure... Thanks for the great review! Really glad that you all enjoyed the experience. While it may have felt like it was 250m below ground level, it was actually 86m down. But you did that 2 times, once in 'the Ballroom' and once just after 'the Rope Slope'. That's the equivalent of a 30 story building down to the basement and... More

This is a self-guided cave a few kilometres south of Margs in the Boronup forrest. Its the longest and deepest cave in the region and well worth an hour of your time, any time of the year. I've been through the cave three times and still love it. Suitable for families with adventurous children old enough to keep under control... More

Thanks for the great review and well done to challenging yourself to step outside your comfort zone :) Believe it or not you actually descend down to a depth of 86 meters and you do that twice. That's equivalent to a 30 story building! Best wishes to you for 2017 and we hope to see you again sometime in the... More

The place itself is incredible. The reason I didn't like it was the fact everyone has audio players rolling at full volume, which means you can't get peace and quiet if you want to listen to the silence!!! Also there is a dead end on one of the boardwalks, which was hard to get out of once in it. Yes.... More

Hi Jeff, it seems like you might be reviewing a different cave. Giants Cave doesn't issue audio players. It is a medium level adventure cave where the friendly staff issue you with a briefing, a torch and a helmet before you descend into the deepest cave in the area. You follow a set trail that takes you over the bare... More

For inexperienced cavers like ourselves, Giants will definitely test your mettle with steep ladder climbs, a short rope descent, tight spaces, nerve-wracking routes - all by torchlight! Experienced cavers will think it's a breeze but our 12 year old and I were quite scared and definitely challenged! Hubby loved it to bits. At the end, two of us were relieved... More

This one's only for people in good shape! Climbs on ladders, through holes, below rock roofs...great stuff! Grab a helmet and torch from staff and get the adventure! Its different to the other caves, rocky, large domes, abseiling. But it's well worth to take this ones too...
