It was an overcast but warm day when we visited and not overly busy. We enjoyed wandering through this garden within an old quarry. There were many paths to explore and a steep climb to a nice view over the city. We enjoyed lunch at the cafe within the garden

What a lovely setting. This is a former quarry which has been reclaimed. By subscription, people can buy a plant, tree or rock and have their name inscribed on a plaque. Thus this is a lush garden with both native and non native plants. It's lovely to stroll through. There is a cafe at the beginning for lunch and a... More

This is definitely worth a visit if Gardens are your thing. Beautifully set out and maps provided so you don't miss anything. A great mix of native and non-native plants. Suitable for hot or cold days as there is a mix of shade and open pathways. Probably not so good on a wet day as the paths will be slippery.... More

We just loved the tranquility of wandering around the Eden Garden, then relaxing at the end in the cafe with a delightful coffee.

This is a very pleasant way to spend an hour of your time, particularly if you use the hop on off bus as it stops at the door. The gardens are beautifully laid out and well cared for. Plenty of native and exotics to keep your interest. The cafe is good for lunch. Above average standard.

We stopped at Eden Gardens on a hop on hop off tour & spent a very pleasant hour or so wandering through the charming gardens & having coffee & homemade eats at the little cafe. Worth a stop.

Eden Gardens was started over 50 years ago in an old quarry. The gardens now look a lot like a rain forest, with huge variety of lush greenery, tall trees, and flowers. The constant bird calls were particularly fascinating, as they were all new to us, as we came from the US. This is one of those small but extremely... More

You must visit the beautiful Eden Garden on your way down from Mt. Eden summit. Created from a former quarry - this verdant garden is like an "oasis" in the heart of the city and has a large collection of plants in natural environment. It is an ideal place to spend peaceful hours in natural surroundings, the garden even has... More

Having lived in Auckland 10 years I only just found out about this place, although it's served by some of the Auckland tour buses, so dragged hubby there on a sunny Sunday. It's run by volunteers as a private enterprise so there was an entry charge ( cheaper if you were on one of the tourist buses we were told).... More

If you like plants and gardens like my wife, this is a must visit place. It's spread out and really gives you the feel of being far away from the city. It's one of the stops on the hop on hop off bus tour. We were able to stroll through the gardens and easily catch the next bus. They also... More
