We walked for an almost 2 hours around the lake. Quite busy but plenty of space for traffic in both directions. Beautiful especially in autumn when it's not too warm. Perfect for tourists of all ages. It's flat and there are plenty of places to stop and rest to take in the scenery. Enjoy !

We had a picnic by the lake then a walk on a beautiful Autumn day. The parking is free and there are public toilets. We were near the Yacht club and looked at the Chinese gardens. Anywhere by the lake is lovely. It's so relaxing, just watch out for the many cyclists sharing the paths.

We were fortunate to visit Canberra on perfect Autumn days. Lake Burley certainly looked a picture every day we were there. Sunny, flat and so picturesque. The only downside to the Lake was the water spout was only operating periodically. We visited the spot 3 times, each time it was not working, but we did see it working from the... More

This is my favourite place in Canberra. You can walk along the shore line at your leisure and enjoy spectacular views in all directions. At this time of year, it is particularly wondrous with the change of colour in the trees that line the foreshore. Come for sunrise to see the mist rise above the water but make sure you... More

It was a joy to walk off some of the food that we had consumed the day before. The weather was perfect and the leaves were just changing colour. The lake is very big but s bridge to bridge walk is approx 5 kilometers. There are cafes so you can stop for coffee etc. excellent for riding a bike -... More

We took a drive along the foreshore drive late in the afternoon to maximise the opportunity to see the Autumn colours but had the added joy of seeing the kangaroos and cockatoos who allowed us to take close up photographs to our surprise. A great place to relax, picnic, cycle and all free.

The lake is right in the centre of Canberra and is constantly in view whilst attending the many places of interest in the ACT. There are many reasons to visit our Nation's capital.

All parts of Lake Burley Griffin provide restful and panoramic views of Canberra's beautiful buildings and tourist attractions. Most of the lake has well finished paths for walking and cycling and board skating. There are numerous cafes around the shores to enjoy a coffee and the views. On the south side of the lake sits all of Canberra's iconic buildings... More

This is an enjoyable place to visit in Canberra. We went on a small cruise boat and the tour operator made it all very interesting.

We got lucky with a sunny day in Canberra and hired bikes to ride around the lake - would probably have been a highlight of our trip - amazing bike paths and not hilly at all. There are some lovely places to stop for a rest and some great photo opportunities. We only managed one part of it but I... More
