While this site is amazing it will take you all of 2 minutes to read the plaque and review the foundations. Interesting to be there - and while your there visit the museum or have a drink at The Governors Table (established 1788!) both right next door. For the NSW Government House you need to go up to the Botanic... More

A plaque on some of the original stone (see photo) is all that remains of the original structure. The site now houses the Museum of Sydney which does feature an exhibit on the original. It's very hard to give a proper rating of the site...

The picture and the reviews do not relate to First Government House Site on the corner of Phillip and Bridge Streets which is the Museum of Sydney. This is the current Government House located above the Opera House in the Botanical Gardens precinct.

The house is magnificent! The grounds are landscaped beautifully. Then there is the view - the harbor in a quiet setting. Ideal for a picnic lunch or dinner setting. Be sure to check the tour times. This is currently a free venue being offered by the city, take advantage.

A beautiful building and attended a presentation in 2010. A must see and it sets a beautiful portrait against the magnificient Sydney Harbour. The building sits on an excarpment directly above the Sydney Opera House. Don't miss a walk through the gardents.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
