We stopped at the customs house on our walking tour, and I enjoyed the model map of Sydney that is under the floor and you can walk about it and look through the plexiglass. That was fun.

Dropped into Sydney's Iconic Customs House which was built in 1844 as the Headquarters of Customs from 1845 until 1990. The building is owned by the NSW Government, but leased to the City of Sydney Council for the community of Sydney. The building houses several tenanted restaurants, the main public library and lots of exhibition space. Two exhibitions that are... More

The Customs House building opposite Circular Quay is always interesting to visit. The whole space lends itself to exhibitions, but the current installation by American artist, Megan Geckler, is a standout. The whole atrium of the building has been festooned with coloured plastic ribbon. From the ground floor looking up it presents as a kaleidoscope of shimmering colour as the... More

This place has a cool model of Sydney city center in the floor which allows you to get an idea of how the city is set up. When we were there it also had interesting art hanging from the roof.

Customs house is a very nice building placed in Circular Quay. In the opposite side of the square there's a nice sight of the bay, Opera and harbour bridge. Outside, there's a bar plenty of people drinking after work mainly on thursday providing a good atmosphere.

Not really a "must-see", but I guess the attraction of the place is really the "aerial" view of the model-city which you can take photos from the glass panels.

Customs House is right next to Circular Quay. Another British era building, the only reason to visit this place is the large underfoot model of the Sydney Central Business District (CBD) on the ground floor. Compared to other better attractions, which abound in the area, there is not much here. One can have a quick 10-15 peep into this place.

Custom house was a great place for dinner. The salmon was EXCELLENT. Service great ! Tipping not a practice in Australia so when I gave a very modest tip, the staff was extremely appreciated. What a good feeling giving a tip to well deserved staff as opposed to in states where it is expected! Meal excellent! Great location and decor.... More

On a recent visit to Customs House, Sydney, which is an impressive historic building situated near Circular Quay, we had the opportunity to view "A Million Things that Make your Head Spin" exhibition by Megan Geckler, which they state is a dazzling rainbow of ribbons constructed from up high in the Customs House ceiling. From our point of view, it... More

The architecture of the Customs House was classic. It just took us a few minutes to go inside and see the model of the city that was under glass that you could walk over.
