Few better harbours than this!

You cannot come to Sydney and be smacked by the awe and beauty of this piece of water. It is the key to Sydney and all that came after Sydney.

We drove two times through the port, on the way to and from the whale watching. The return way with a view of the city is especially breathtaking!

Port Jackson, aka Sydney Harbour is one of the most magnificent harbours in the world. A great place to visit, you can enjoy a ferry ride to numerous places, walk the Harbour Bridge, explore the banks of the harbour, see the Opera House and Circular Quay to name a few. Dining options abound. Once visited, you will return.

We recently cruised from Sydney and it was well worth the effort of getting out of bed at 4am to see the ship sail in through the heads at dawn. Absolutely magical experience. If you are ever on a cruise ship coming in here, make it your business to see it - it was far more magical arriving than it... More

Captain Phillip got it right. What a place to found one of the world's most outstanding cities!! Port Jackson (aka Sydney Harbour) is, geologically speaking, a flooded valley. The landform was at one time a sandstone-based plateau. Over time, water eroded a canyon. Then the plateau dropped and the sea flooded in. The world's greatest natural harbour was created. Port...
