Very interesting building to tour

We did the tour with a great guide called Bruce. He explained the history of the building, it's uses today and their plans for the future. Well worth a visit

This is one of the iconic structures in Sydney and the guided tour gives a great insight into how it was built. Our tour guide Bruce was really entertaining and very passionate about it which made the tour even more enjoyable. Each member of the tour gets individual headsets so you can hear everything that is being said in the... More

Took a guided tour lasting around ninety minutes. Takes you into places which is otherwise not accessible and obtain plenty of facts about the construction and facilities. Provided with a ear phone so that the commentary comes clear.

We were so lucky that the symphony was rehearsing during our tour. The sound was fantastic. Bali, our tour guide, made the tour come alive with his commentary because of his experience in the arts. The story of how and why it was built and all the problems they encountered was very interesting. Originally I wondered whether just walking around... More

Honestly, you should use your money to purchase tickets to a show that is playing there and enjoy the complete experience instead.

We had to go and see the opera. Just a tour would not have been enough. Luckily the show we saw had portions from three different operas. It was great. The structure looks fantastic from the outside. As you walk in the stairs leading up are a little dingy. Once you get in the theater its great. The views from... More

The Sydney Opera house is one of the most incredible manmade landmarks I have ever seen. From sunrise to sunset, it is always great to stare at it from across the harbor or from inside. The inside is amazing as well but definitely get tickets!!! Amazing fireworks, again best viewable from afar

We took the backstage tour (great overview) and managed to get opera tickets for a wonderful production of "Tosca" in late February. Tip: the Sydney Visitor's Book has coupons that provide discounts for both. One fascinating fact about the tiles on the Sydney Opera House is that they are several shades of colour and self-cleaning.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
