I have been here several times and always enjoy the gardens and the view. On this occasion I hopped on the train that tours the garden, $10 per adult 25 minutes. It was very informative, enjoyable and I got to see quite a lot of the garden.

Enjoyed visiting these gardens. a ride on the train is very good and gives an overall history of the gardens. Thought the Chocolate exhibition in the visitors centre could have been better.

My wife and I walked through the gardens this afternoon. They are big and beautiful but to my surprise there's very little color (other than green). Every other formal gardens I've ever been to are literally exploding with flowers of every color imaginable. Yes there are some flowers in the garden but 99% is green. Even with the lack of... More

The Botanical Gardens are one of the joys of Sydney. They are a green oasis/lung right in the heart of the action and beautifully kept. Try entering the gardens from the Woolamaloo gate and wandering through before ending up at the waterside. Enjoy looking at the party boats before walking around the Opera House and stopping for a cool one... More

We enjoyed strolling around the grounds of this lovely garden. It had some beautiful views. We wished we had a full day to enjoy it. We would have liked a few more park benches to rest though. It's a very large park!

Free entry from every side.....a wonderful collection of plants, shrubs and trees. A relaxing place to have a picnic, wander and enjoy the views and animals. You have great views of the harbour, Government House and plants indigenous to Australia and the world....you can spend hours here. Right now there is a paid exhibit on chocolate, but the rest is... The amazing Jonathan Jones show by Kaldor Public Arts was the catalyst for us to spend more time in the Botanic Gardens The walk around Mrs Macquarie's chair to the Opera House must be one of the worlds 10 great city walks The gardens remain an oasis of tranquility in our busy city. There are new buildings and spaces but... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
