Coogee is a nice city beach, surf is minimal due to wedding cake island so if you want a calmer water or the baths (the old ones or woman's only at the southern end) the place is for you. The park is nice but the fish and chips on the beach is massively over priced, go to the cafes across... More

Small but beautiful, smaller than Bondi but a nice clean beach. Is patrolled by life guards. Lots of bars, restaurants etc close to the beach.

When tourists come to Sydney they are often told to visit Bondi beach or Manly beach. I also think Coogee beach is a fabulous location as well. It is very pretty, safe for swimming and suitable for everyone of all ages. There is always a fun and friendly atmosphere there and you will not have any problems finding somewhere to... More

Beautiful beach, and the free Coogee ocean pool is one of the best. The beach facilities are being rebuilt after last year's storms.

I was mispronouncing this beach! Beautiful beach that wasn't crowded when we arrived at about 10:30 AM on a Saturday. We started our walk to Bondi here so we didn't go in the water.

This is not a big beach, but it is lovely. There is a surf club facility and kiosk. There are also many little eateries etc to explore. It is a lovely area. You can hold events at the surf club too and it has a full ocean view. Lovely. Access if you are driving can be a pain, not a... More

We took the costal walk from Bondi to here. Worth the 2 hour trek. All the beaches along the stretch are beautiful gems. Coogee is the icing on the cake, the cherry at the end.

I was here on a business meeting and staying nearby, the weather was cold wet and windy for the 3 days I was here so swimming was out of the question. The sky was cloudy, grey and moody providing a constantly changing feeling on the beach. I would love to visit again under different conditions.

Loved the beach! There are so many options of Baths were you can swim and enjoy! There is a small park there where you could also sit and enjoy! There also few food joints across :) One o the best I have visited so far.

Staying in Coogee

Neighbourhood Profile
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
