I visited the beach with my wife and toddler. I went there on Sunday and as expected the beach was crowded. The beach has options for barbeque, and lots of people will be using. Vicinity to Gordons bay is really great. There is a oporto, subway for quick munchies. The coogee Pavilion is a good cafe and has a roof... More

Just a 15 - 20 minute bus ride from Central Sydney to this fine golden sand beach with a wide promenade with plenty of benches to sit and watch the action. There's a variety of cafes and bars along the front esplanade and we found the locals friendly. The sand gets really hot on summer days, so it's a dash... More

I love Coogee Beach so much that I have never ventured very far. Travelled the world but I always have lived within. 5 km radius of Coogee Beach. Clean water with oceans pools at both North and South ends. Plenty of nearby cafés and restaurants to visit before or after your swim. Or take food a cook a BBQ at... More

We were fortunate to stay here for a couple of weeks and loved the ambience, the beach, the coastal park, the excellent relaxed eateries and shops. What a great place to live and enjoy leisure time. Lovely even in the rain.

Coogee has everything, a long expansive beach and golden-white sands. Long promenade, picnic shelters, push button barbeques, plenty of eateries and refreshments available on Coogee Bay Rd and Arden St. Public transport and street parking availalble. Something for everyone. 5 star hotel, historic rooms and motel rooms at Coogee Bay Hotel, Medina Apartment Accommodation and Backpacker Accommodation

A perpetual favourite: I love Coogee for swimming, relaxing, food/coffee options and so much more! Great family friendly beach with no/minimal surf.

We caught the bus from Redfern, Sydney to Coogee to start our coastal walk to Bondi Beach. The beach itself at Coogee lovely was nice and clean. The town had a nice laid back feel to it and would be a nice place to stay.

A nice beach with well developed trails for runners and walkers. Pleasantly surprised that the majority of dog owners acted responsibly meaning not having to watch where you placed your feet as intently. Running north to Bondi provides a good mix of climbs and flat running, with toilets and water fountains along the way. Great stuff.

My favorite beach even though it has gotten alot more developed over the years. It is close enough to be in the city in minutes yet still has a relaxed vibe on the sand with a bit of room to move. As kid friendly as a beach can be and alot easier to keep your eyes on your kids too.... More

Staying in Coogee

Neighbourhood Profile
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
