This was a nice park to sit & take in the cool air & trees. Its scenic because its directly in front of the Cathedral. Theirs a water fountain & a bigger than life chess game pieces where the locals were having a game. So, cool nice vibe.

To be truly Australian, come here with your book or your pet or your lover and enjoy the grassy patch and lovely sun to simply relax and bask. I love the easy feel of the place. Nice place for jogging too. Tons of avid runners. Easily available by Train. Take to St. James Station on the T2 line. Convenience and... More

The king piece of this park is the memorial to Australia's soldiers who died in WWII helping the mother country, Britain. The reflecting pond, eternal flame, and oblisk are features of this shaded park. Bring a picnic lunch there. Don't forget to look up the statue of Capt. James Cook while there...

Beautiful place for a wander, lots of spots to enjoy lunch, the active atmosphere really makes this a living place, if you hang around long enough you might seeing something awesome, we walked past a man who was expertly weaving very quickly in and out of a line of cones on rollerblades. also a lovely place in the evening and... Although not on the scale of its London counterpart, Sydney's Hyde Park plays an important role in helping to maintain the city's health (environmental, physical, mental, spiritual...). Along with the Botanical Gardens and the Domain, Hyde Park is a welcome respite from the Sydney traffic, noise and humidity. Sitting under the canopy shade of the main avenue of trees manages... The fountains & sculptures are beautiful. St. Mary's cathedral next door. We saw many couples here taking wedding photos. Lots of trees and benches to sit under the shade in the summer. Nice spot for a picnic in the middle of the city.

We had walked from the Opera House and were going back to our hotel via Hyde Park. Not loud, not too crowded, just a very green and lush space in the city.

We walked through Hyde Park on our way to the Opera House. There was a lot of fountain construction and park maintenance going on, but the main huge fountain with the Greek Gods was still open to the public for viewing. The status and the fountain is huge and amazing. Lots of people crowding around the fountain can make it... More

I pretty much just happened on Hyde Park and I really liked it. There is a great place to sit and enjoy the fountains and look at St Mary's Cathedral. I did see a sign that said to leave if it got very windy though as trees could fall.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
