Although it provides a guaranteed opportunity to see some Australian wildlife up close, this small collection disappointed me in its crass commercial approach. At almost every exhibit they have a coin well where you can deposit money to support the conservation of a particular animal. Good idea, except I'd just spent $40 AUS for an hour's worth of activity, and... More

On the waterfront. Lots of dining nearby (expensive, but oh, the view). This is an interesting addition to a trip you're already making to Darling Harbour; I wouldn't go out of my way, though.

This is a nice way to quickly see a selection of Australian animals up close. The experience is different from the bigger zoo - that is an all day attraction and this one is a nice fit for two hours. Watch the entrance times if you are coming late, because this exhibit entrance closes an hour earlier than the companion.... More

We took our 3 yr old here and it was a fantastic afternoon out. Excellent enclosures replicating the various animals natural environments. Very easy to see all the wonderful animals on display. Many zoos the animals are hiding out of site but not here. Keepers knowledgeable and very interactive. Got to pat the kangaroos and see the cute koalas up... More

My wife and I were in Sydney Australia from the 25th of January to the 15th of February 2017 and while there we tried to do as many tourist type of attractions we could possibly do. We had one of those multiple tourist attraction tickets for 4 events in Sydney and this was one of them. I have read some... More

Wildlife Sydney Zoo is a place that is probably not worth visiting if you are going to Taronga Zoo. We had a Merlin 4 attraction ticket so the cost was negligible but I am glad that I didn't pay the full entry price as I would have been disappointed. Not many animals or exhibits to look at. The way it... More

Hi Jo A, It is great to hear you purchased one of our multi attraction passes as they are great value for money. We are indeed smaller in comparison to Taronga Zoo, this is partly due to our location which is right in the heart of the city, we have a wide range of native Australian animals, for example, a... It was a pretty small and compact zoo. The highlights were the Koalas at the top of the zoo near the restaurant and the kangaroo exhibit outdoors. It didn't take long to walk through this zoo and we only did it as a combo with the sea life aquarium next door. You will probably see everything in an hour.

A queue that never ends only to understand that it takes 5min to service one customer and there is one counter working. Awful. Then you get inside to see one or two animals of the species that look depressed as hell. One koala, one crocodile, a few wallabies, some birds and snakes - all behind the glass wall. I understand... Sydney Zoo is a must place to visit. Spent approx 5 hours in the park and wished we had more time, to enable us to fully enjoy our day. Make time to see the bird show, from memory .. I think this takes place twice a day, check to confirm times when you arrive at the Zoo.

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighbourhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to Dj’s. Families can visit the Chinese Gardens of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Sydney Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
