Great sunset tour of The Kangaroo Sanctuary
Sep 2021 • Couples
Visited Chris (known as Brolga) and volunteer Miriam yesterday afternoon/last night at The Kangaroo Sanctuary for a sunset tour. A bus, included in the tour price, picked us up at the designated time and then more guests along the way. There were about 15 people on the tour. Guests are dropped back to their accomodation afterwards. Brolga and Miriam greeted us upon arrival and Brolga gave a very informative talk after informally talking to his guests. Two joeys, Cam and Baby, are able to be held by older children and guests along the way. Brolga walked us around the sanctuary, telling us details about everything. There are *many* kangaroos to see, some are bottle fed by guests and some get some food from a bucket, if they approach the group. Brolga is enthusiastic, very patient and answered all questions. I was very happy to see Abi, one of the three original rescue kangaroos (who is now quite old) and Teddy, who was a rescued Euro joey. You also walk past Roger’s memorial and grave site. Brolga made the point of saying most joeys are released back into the wild once they reach a certain age and are healthy and the sanctuary is for the ones who are can’t be released back for various reasons. The sanctuary is out of town and is exactly that; a working rehabilitation centre for kangaroos. There is even a 24 hour rescue centre on site. Do not expect the usual touristy things such as a café, restrooms, souvenirs, etc. That is not what Brolga and his team is about. He is purely educating and creating awareness for the public through these tours. He is definitely passionate about being a “joey Mum” to his rescues. I was more than happy to pay the entry fee (which I’ve heard and read other people complaining about) as the care and rehab of the joeys and the kangaroos at the sanctuary is ongoing. I would recommend going on a tour with Brolga, especially if you don’t know much about kangaroos. I would definitely apply to be a sanctuary volunteer if I lived in Alice Springs! Brolga is great!

Once in a life time opportunity
Jun 2021
Thank you Thank you Thank you. The world would be such a better place if there were more people like you in it. I will never forget the experience I had nursing a baby Joey. A few years back I saw you on TV and finally had the opportunity to come and see Brolga and his Kangaroos. You have given so much of your life to every Kangaroo that has come through your door. I am in awe of such passion and dedication.

A must in Central Australia

Brolga is a wealth of information about kangaroos and their protection. It’s very clear he’s very passionate about his work. The experience itself is amazing, holding joeys, walking through bush land with the sun setting amongst kangaroos, it’s well worth a visit. The memorial for Roger demonstrates how much Brolga invests in the kangaroos, and how much Roger was loved by all.

Best night ever!
May 2021
One of the best evenings we’ve had. There were about 12 of us on the twilight tour. So easy being picked up by bus at our hotel.
Brolga greeted us and asked us a little about ourselves and there were some funny interactions which was a great start to a fun night.
Brolga is so passionate and knowledgeable but not lecturing. We learnt so much.
The baby kangas stole our hearts. The walkabout was great and my highlight was feeding a shy young kangaroo (Priscilla!) a warm bottle of milk.
Bliss for both of us.
Our bus driver was a lovely guy who offered to take photos of us with our own phones/cameras. It was wonderful to be walking in the bush in the twilight.
A memorable experience.
We all reluctantly left with huge smiles on our faces and full hearts.
PS: To our relief during our 1200 km + driving on NT roads we did not see one road kill due to the recent rains

True highlight of an already memorable trip. Fascinating insight into raising orphaned kangaroos, beautiful twilight setting, adorable joeys to cuddle, and Brolga’s passion and love for the animals beams out of him. Seamless hotel transfers and back home all before dinnertime!

Surprisingly amazing tour!
Apr 2021 • Couples
We have been living in Alice Springs for years but never thought of checking out the place until this Easter. We didn’t know what to expect and were surprised how good the tour is. This place is soooo wonderful. Chris, aka “Brolga”, is an incredible guy for taking care of all the roos in need and gave us so much education about them. We learned a lot from him. I felt so overwhelmed with his passion in the roos. Thank you Chris and Dave, our driver, for an amazing evening.

In a way, Im grateful for the reset of covid. It makes you re evaluate life, what’s important. I used to put off travel. This place is an example. I’ve been talking about coming here for years. Well guess what, I finally made it here!
