If you are looking for a touristy aquarium where you get to handle the creatures this is not the place. This place is much much more!! The owner has a wealth of knowledge and is highly passionate about what he does. The large 'fish tank' (believe me you have to see this to believe it) has amazingly crystal clear water... More

It's an interesting place to be! The knowledge from John is amazing! He will introduce you a whole coral reef which is all alive in a house and you will learn more than you might expect! Thanks a lot John for sharing your knowledge.. It's stunning! Take care Kathrin

Loved our trip to the Pacific Marine at the harbour, the owner gives a guided tour to small groups and has a wealth of knowledge previously unknown to not only ourselves but others within our group.

You will not come across another aquarium like this one. It has a self sustaining coral reef in the largest tank that has been carefully put together by John the owner of this establishment. We last visited this aquarium 23 years ago and it made such a lasting impression on us that we just had to visit it again this... More

From the moment we walked into this place we knew we had made a mistake however we were unable to escape. After 15 minutes of watching an 80's documentary about The Great Barrier Reef and sitting on old garden chairs we were summoned for the tour. Upon entering the aquarium the grilling and lecturing by our tour guide began, a... More

Not your standard aquarium but certainly a much more realistic view of what one should look like. Our tour guide (the owner) had so much knowledge of our Eco system with regards to coral and marine life that I learnt more from him in an hour than I have from any other visit to a marine establishment before. Excellent value... More

John ( owner / tour guide) provided a great tour. He is extremely passionate and knowledgable. We both learnt so much and enjoyed the tour very much. He has some amazing displays. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Darwin. Thanks John for the tour. Kind regards Tony & Simone.

We came to the Indo Pacific Marine 11 years ago during our first trip to Australia and since we were back around after all this time, we decided to check it out and see what’s new or what has stayed the same. First of all, this is a great place to learn about the local marine life, it is well... More

We had a tour from the owner- and boy, was it interesting!!! ( provided you are interested in learning of course) - he is a bit of a quirky guy, and yes, the place has not been updated for a while but threatening closure tends to do that. Darwin council really should step in. He explained about lots of marine... More

Indo Pacific Marine has been a "must-see" attraction in Darwin for decades. My wife used to take anyone who visited us from "down-south" back in the early 1990s. We took our youngest son to see a reef up close - as good as snorkeling Darwin's reefs without the stingers and crocs! It includes a self-sustaining reef ecosystem - one of... More
