The Brisbane River is perfect for adventure, leisure and recreation. Go kayaking, stand up paddleboarding or take a trip on a City Cat. Celebrate the Brisbane River at a Riverfire function or just have a picnic in the riverside parkland. The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are a great vantage point to see the Brisbane River, or go rock climbing or abseiling with Riverlife Adventure Centre. Try Story Bridge Adventure climb, cycle, rollerblade or go for a jog. Dance with the local aboriginal tribe, Mirrabooka or visit South Bank. However you look at it you can't visit Brisbane without experiencing the River. Then cruise out to Tangalooma Island Resort for a must do experience. Enjoy!

I really think Brisbane city & particularly the Brisbane river views as you drive into the city really need an overdue facelift. To me Brisbane is Australia's ugliest city. I love Qld & have lived there most of my life. But it's the beaches & lifestyle I love. I'm almost embarrassed bringing in tourists into the city. There must be... More

Travelling up and down the Brisbane river is very relaxing, you can choose to get on and off at different highlights if you want to or just stay on board. I took my family from Canberra on a sightseeing trip up the brisbane river. They loved it and it was not an expensive day out. Would recommend

The Brisbane River can be seen and appreciated when you travel by City Cat Ferry. You can jump on at one of the many terminals and stop over at Southbank for a casual breakfast and a walk through the gardens and many attractions including the 'beach'. Then get back on and cross the river to Eagle Street Pier for lunch... More

We took the advice of a local hotel receptionist and headed down to North Quay to pick up the free ferry (little red boat!) that meanders up & down the river, rather than paying to speed up & down on the faster cruiser...absolutely free, every 30mins & a nice ogle along the way!

We loved our stay in Brisbane particularly walking along the paths along the river. To see the city cats and the hoppers going up and down. Part of the river has the Botanical Gardens which are most enjoyable. To sit on one of the many park benches watching the world go by is very relaxing. Oh and the cooling breeze... More

As a local, I go to the river a couple of times a week - to cycle, run or walk. After doing a bit of travelling overseas recently, I now realise that the Brisbane River is a fantastic treasure. There are so many options for enjoyment - the wide paths enable lots of activity, shops and restaurants closer to CBD.... More

We cruised in to Brisbane on the river. It is a very busy port at the start & then it turns into a pretty river flowing through the city.

Took the hopper ferry to the man made Beach along the river. It was great fun for all ages and all of it was free. There was also a lot of good restaurants and shopping available

I took the city hopper travels along the Brisbane River, it is really nice and the most important is it is free. We can enjoy the view of Brisbane River and city sights.

Our visit to Brisbane coincided with very hot humid weather so, a couple of times, we took a trip on the Brisbane River Cats, catamaran ferries that travel between the University, up river and Hamilton, near the mouth of the Brisbane River. Total trip time, is about 1.30 each way which allows a stop off for a coffee in the... More
