'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group day and night rainforest wildlife tours. It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest. We often see platypus, birds, possums, tree kangaroos, insects, frogs, owls, reptiles, various invertebrates and other animals on our tours. As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal, a night element and spotlighting is included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide.

I did this tour on March 18 with a young German biologist as the tour leader. He was outstanding! His knowledge of the animals and the ecology of the area was unparalleled. We saw two possum species, a forest dragon, and of course the beloved platypus. We also appreciated that our guide ordered dinner in advance so we could eat... More

To spot nocturnal animals in natural habitat is superb.Recently did this tour and thought it fantastic for those that love and appreciate animals. The group was small and guide was very knowledgeable. We had the privilege to see some rare sights. You need to make the effort to go at night and spot nocturnal animals - you just cannot see the... My wife and I did this tour last night and we really, really enjoyed it. We were in a group with 8 other people and the group as a whole was pretty quiet. But Paul and the animal life made the tour very memorable. First, Paul. He is a trove of knowledge about all things Australian flora and fauna. I... More

If you want to see plenty of wildlife then you must take this trip. We saw so many mammals (including Platypus) that I should have had a notebook to keep track! Paul was an excellent guide and has so much knowledge on plants, trees, insects, mammals...etc! Also there was no rushing, Paul was keen for everyone to see as much... More

We booked this trip before coming out to Australia. It was slow starting and we were unfortunate to not see much before dinner. The first rainforest walk was very interesting and our guide was very informative. Afternoon tea is a flask and a cake - have lunch before you go on tour! Dinner was average - you get a choice.... Thanks Shelley. We did have a slow start that tour but the night made up for it. I am glad you enjoyed it (even the snake bit!) More

Well, we were special as no one else wanted to go on the tour with us so had Paul all to ourselves which obviously added that personal touch. It is however usually good to meet people on tour so was also slightly disappointing. Paul was very knowledgeable and we saw most of the animals promised bar one or two. Unfortunately... More

Thats for that! We are at the slightly higher price end as we run small group tours to give a better viewing experience, something which sets us apart. We will run this tour with a minimum of 2 people as well and sometimes you get lucky and get a private tour for that like you did. More

We did this last minute and probably could have skipped our daintree tour and tablelands food tour to just do this. Sure you don't got to the "daintree" but you go into the rainforest and Paul spots everything. He was so upset that we didn't see a platypus that we literally went 4 times (extending the tour an extra hour)... More

Hi Josh, yes it does bug me when I can't find that platypus as I usually do! Sorry you missed out but so glad you enjoyed the rest of the tour. There are always lots of different species for us to find up here so every tour is different! More

My boyfriend and I had a lovely time spotting wildlife on this tour. Our guide knew of the best places to find certain animals and was great at spotting the animals in the trees at night. This tour is great if you are getting into Cairns in the morning and don't want to waste any time.

This has to be up there with the best things to do whilst in Cairns. A gentle start with afternoon viewings of Wallabies and Flying Foxes. A drive onto the Tablelands at dusk to view spectacular flora and fauna. We saw over 20 different animals by lamplight, even a platypus, he took some finding. A decent pair of shoes and... More

If you like seeing wildlife in the wild then you will love this tour! We were taken from Cairns to the Queensland table lands where we spent an afternoon and evening spotting and photographing local wildlife, from platypus or cane toads including tree kangaroos, huntsman spiders, musky rat kangaroos and various bats. Tea, dinner and binoculars were provided and Paul... More
