Overview
More
'Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours' specialises in small group rainforest wildlife tours with a twist! As a lot of Australian rainforest animals are nocturnal (at least 80% of them) a night element and spotlighting is always included with a knowledgeable, enthusiastic guide. It is magical to be involved in seeing a wild animal unrestricted in its natural environment in the rainforest, especially at night with all the new sights and sounds around you. On our tours we can never guarantee what we will see but we do promise you will see something! As an example we often see the elusive platypus (we have at least a 90% success rate) and the rare Tree Kangaroo as well as rare birds, musky rat kangaroos, possums, frogs, owls, reptiles, bandicoots and various invertebrates. Your wildlife adventure starts early afternoon with pick ups from your Cairns hotels and returns you around 10pm. Included is binoculars, wet wether gear, afternoon tea in the forest and dinner at a country restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Paul who had planned the tour carefully to maximise the opportunities to see animals in their natural habitat. Always a risky thing to do as animals are unpredictable but to see not one but two platypuses was a real...More

Great trip with super friendly knowledgeable guide. Really different approach and the wandering around at night in the forest by torchlight was fascinating.

We had such an excellent trip on the Atherton Tablelands, rainforests and surrounding areas! The short drives were broken up very professionally with some great stop off points to see wildlife, interesting facts about local aboriginal culture and opportunities for bush-tucker experiences! Our guide was...More

We had a great trip, you start late, so the trip continues into the night. Our guide is just a big dictonary, he seems to know every thing about the nature and the animals. I swear to god, he can see a 5cm spider in...More

The Night Tour was a great way to see some of the local Tableland wildlife. Although classed as a night tour, we started early afternoon (2pm I think) and did not get back to the hotel until around 10 pm. Group size is small. Heading...More

Thanks for the recommendation Mat. You just about summed us up nicely! I do genuinely say we have a 90% chance of seeing the platypus and as you witnessed we do find them most of the time.

I would highly recommend this tour if you are staying in the Cairn's area. It was well organized tour with highly informative and knowledgeable guide. It was raining but Paul provided rain panchos which kept us dry while viewing various wild life such as wallabies,...More

This tour was very disappointing, everything we did was from a road, we walked down a paved road to do the night walk, stopped on the road to look off at other animals, no real walk in the rainforest. This tour should be renamed, saw...More

It Is a pity you did not appreciate seeing wildlife in its natural habitat. You should probably go to a zoo next time.

It is around 15-20 mins from Airport to Hilton. We pick up there between 1:30 and 1:45. So as long as your plane is on time you will be ok. It is not really possible to catch up to us in a taxi.
