I was visiting the Reef with very little inherent knowledge of the delicate eco-system. Before heading out on a full day trip on the SeaStar I wanted to learn about the reef and it's occupants so I could identify what was out there and know where to look. The lady that taught the class (I think her name was Lisa?)... More

We had just finished our dive course and went to Reef Teach the night before heading out onto the reef. We learnt so much about the species we would see and found it very valuable while diving the Great Barrier Reef. I highly recommend seeing this whether you are diving, snorkeling or just in the area to relax.

I attended 'reef teach' before visiting the GBR. Can't recommend this talk highly enough. Fun, engaging and informative, I think this should be made compulsory attendance before visiting the GBR, myself and my friends had a lot more fun on our scuba course because of it and knowing just that little bit more* about the environment we were visiting! and... My partner and I attended the Reef Teach session and were both really impressed with the informative, enthusiastic and down to earth presentation style. We've been snorkelling in a range of areas before and were keen to understand more about the reef. We learnt so much about the whole ecosystem and I particularly appreciated the section on the coral. There... More

Amazing experience, definitely must go while you are in Cairns, especially before diving, snorkeling, or as part of self-education! Massive well thought lecture was presented covering basics of the reef in a stand-up form. Someone has to film how Gareth mimics sea-life and divers,it is better than many shows I've visited for quite money! The lecture is in interactive form,... More

This is a must do before diving or snorkeling the great barrier reef. The knowledge insight and humor provided by the teachers was invaluable to me before I went snorkeling. I felt so much more knowledgeable about what I saw in fact I felt like a semi expert compared to the tourists who had not done reef teach. Thanks for... More

Look, this was ok. I wasn't overwhelmed, I wasn't underwhelmed. I was just... whelmed. Interesting enough, probably caters more to beginners, kids or overseas visitors than those who have dived the reef a lot. The presenter was enthusiastic and funny at times but missed some important points we thought would have been covered. I would have told people not to... More

I wanted to prep my family (husband, myself, and 2 sons 9 & 12 before we went out on the GBR. This reef educational presentation was AMAZING: very educational for the average person and very funny!! Garth had my 9 and 12 yr olds laughing and learning (not easy to do with boys that age)!! Most of our family are... More

I went to a class before I did a 2 day, 1 night scuba diving liveaboard. We had a small group, only 9 people, so the class ended up being about 3 hours because we were able to ask so many questions and get into a discussion. Unfortunately I can't remember the marine biologist's name, but he was hilarious and... More

Dear Alyssa. It was probably myself (Gareth). I am the most talkative in the team. In fact I often get teased for it. But I do love the questions and this leads me into other areas of the Reef information. I am so please that I made such a positive impact on your Great Barrier Reef trip. remember you can... More

We went to Reef Teach before snorkelling and diving in the reef. We absolutely recommend anyone going out on the reef should do the same. Prior to attending this talk, we knew pretty much nothing about marine biology. Gareth was a treasure trove of accessible information about the reef and how to identify and understand what you're looking at when... More
