You should take the sky rail at least one way which has a scenic route with 2 stops. The guided tour gives you an educative explanation of the vegetation, river and aboriginals in the rainforest. The journey by itself has some great views. You need to take the hotel transport from the city to the sky rail station.

My wife and I took the train up to Kuranda and the sky rail back about 6 years ago and didn't mind the scenery and have lunch at the pub on the corner in Kuranda. We visited the reptile park and had a walk around. The travelling part then was expensive but I guess one of those things you do,... More

Wife & I really enjoyed the One way Skyrail & One way Kuranda railway experience. I think it cost $109 NZD per person, without any upgrades. We drove down to Cairns from Port Douglas & easily found the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway terminal. We went late morning, on a Thursday, in late October. We never waited more than 3 or 4... More

Based on the reviews of others, I chose to take the skyrail up to Kuranda, explore for a few hours, then take the latest train down. For the train portion, I chose to pay extra for the upgraded section that provided snacks and unlimited beverages (wines, sodas, etc) I highly recommend getting off the skyrail at the optional stops (there... We hired a car for our stay in Cairns and had every intention of driving up to the beautiful township of Kuranda. I wish we had stayed with that plan. We decided to drop into Skyrail to have a look and unfortunately the excitement of the moment and the thought of "you'll never never know if you never never go"... More

For our first trip to Cairns, I booked the Self-Drive Skyrail, Kuranda, and Scenic Rail tour for myself and mum and were so impressed with both the service by all staff, the knowledge they exhibited, and the beauty that this tour uncovered! The self-drive option for the tour is a little cheaper than the Hotel pick-up packages, and is worthwhile... More

We booked this trip through Viator. The company doing the tour was Down Under Tours. We were picked up from our accommodation in Port Douglas in very comfortable air conditioned coach. One the best I have ever been on. The coach driver Richard gave an interesting commentary throughout our journey the Sky Rail terminal. Unfortunately, we were sat near a... More

For a family of 5 it costs approx $400 for the sky rail & train. Lady at the counter was rude and it was almost like it was an inconvenience for her to serve us. It was not worth the money, we've done other sky rails for nowhere near the price and have been so much better. The train was... More

We went to Kuranda via the scenic railway, this was interesting learning about the history of why and how it was built, very hot! No aircon just opened Windows and a bit uncomfortable, takes about 1 1/2 hrs to get up to Kuranda, here we found not much to do, was expecting lovely little unique shops and market but unfortunately... We started our trip to Kuranda by taking in the tour and history of the indigenous people of the area past and present. This included history of the dij ary do, spear and boomerang throwing and lots, lots more. The morning was finished of with a fantastic lunch before we set of on the sky rail tour by cable car...
