My Bubbe went in 1992 from the united states and she was wroooooong! This place puts the lame in lame as crap. It's a tourist trap. Only redeeming quality was the nap I took on the train. The sky rail wasn't too bad either but go to Harley's crocodile adventures instead

The journey up the railway from Cairns to Kuranda provides an invaluable insight into the building of the railway that opened up the Atherton Tablelands. Travel was comfortable. The stopover at Baron Falls was an ideal opportunity to get out of the carriage and walk around a little.

Booked onto train and went to Kuranda walked around the markets went into the Butterfly house. Caught the bus back to Cairns. This is a cheaper way by booking it yourself.

The entire Kuranda expedition from the railway line to sky rail is well managed but frankly have seen much better views and vintage railways. The only part of the experience which was totally worth it was the stunning sky rail view on the way back. If you decide to go to Kuranda, take the railway up and sky rail down.... More

This is absolutely fabulous. The clickety clack of the train would almost make you fall asleep except that you will be wide eyed at the beautiful scenery. Doing the train up to Kuranda and then the Sky Rail back down is the best way to do it (or the other way around).

Took the Kuranda train up at 9.55am. It was not crowded due to non peak so we get to spread ourselves out to sit near the window for good views. Not entirely exciting for teenagers though still enough to see and understand the history.

Went on the Scenic Railway as part of a day trip to Kuranda. Only returning on the train having arrived on the cableway. The history that is played about the train, its creation and the surrounding area is fascinating. Train itself is comfy and with open windows for a nice breeze. Slowed down for photo opportunities and fulled stopped to... More

We got the skyrail up and booked the train down. You don't need to book either via the restrictive tour operators, we just turned up on the day and bought tickets, avoided the queues, transfer by bus from the train to skyrail car park was included and it was slightly cheaper than the tour packages. Skyrail is great, fab views,... More

Train is authentic and the journey is smooth going through the rain forest, waterfalls and makes a stop at the gorge. Great time out with family and friends, and commentary is very informative. Be sure that you book with the right agent as we were place with 10 people in 2 seats - not happy about it because all the... More
