Compared to the other Botanical Gardens we visited on our two month tour of Australia this was a bit disappointing. Its great for local people to walk, relax and exercise in but for garden lovers the planting is limited and unspectacular.

Really great place to lay under a shady tree, relax and zone out from the noise of the urban. Great range of native plant species. You can feed the ducks too!

Winter is Tabebuia time in Townsville and one of the most spectacular group of trees in flower are in Anderson Park along Fulham Road (see photo). Anderson park is one of the few Botanical Gardens that can be driven through with many areas to stop and enjoy the collection of unusual and rare trees and plants. great for picnics, a... More

We visited the Townsville Botanic Gardens earlier this month during our drive around Australia. It was a great place to spend an hour or so looking at the flora and feeding the birds in the pond. There were a few mosquitoes around too so we were glad we brought our repellant so we could enjoy the gardens.

OK, I am am keen gardener and love North Queensland trees. Anderson Park was the place to see them. A really helpful gardener helped me out to find some of the trees I was keen to see. Nice place for a walk once you want a change from the Strand.

Lovely relaxing tropical gardens with plenty of shaded, secluded areas. Has a small children's playground.

A lovely park with a pond with lutes blossoms and ducks in it. Beautiful old trees with large green canopies. Remember to take mosquitoes repellant

Brilliant park in the middle of the town, however, completely empty of people and life. Wish we had the dog with us for a run around. Beautiful grounds, great gardens - no bathrooms at all (which would increase people wanting to visit the park for picnic's). worth a walk/drive around
