This is a great day trip from Cairns, take of hire snorkling equipment, and take walking shoes to climb the top of the hill

The beauty of the tropical north is that it's best experience when the southern states are shivering through winter. The island offers plenty to see and do. Bush walks (Nudey Beach is an easy one for the kids) is a must do! Snorkelling is best...More

About forty minutes by ferry from Cairns wharf, this is an attractive place for a stay of a few hours. The centrepiece is the Resort, but for the day visitor, the island is worth considering, particularly if swimming, snorkelling, sailing etc. will occupy you. The...More

Nice island but too many tourists, along with climate change has devastated the environment. Reef has been bleached, no private areas. Ok for families to have a swim and feed.

We went to Fitzroy Island thinking we could spend a full day of snorkeling but we were wrong. The water was too cold, coral too shallow so we spent most of the time walking around trying to find something else to do. They have a...More

My daughter hurt her foot quite badly on coral and the staff were brilliant. Thanks to Andy in particular for cleaning her up. This is such an unspoilt beautiful island where you can just lose yourself for a day and probably more. Great staff, so...More

We booked with Fitzroy Island Adventures a day prior to going to the Island. Unfortunately, the weather was miserable as we boarded - cold, raining - not ideal for snorkelling, paddle boarding and all the other activities you can enjoy on the Island. We were...More

A Day trip to Fitzroy Island looked promising on brochures but failed to delver for these day trippers. You step off the boat in front of the Resort entrance and are left in no doubt that you need to move aside for the guests. So,...More

You can camp, not sure who you contact. Probably Queensland Parks. When we were there in July the camping ground wasn't to busy. It's small but they are building cabins. Facilities looked clean and it's just next to the... More
