It's not every day that you get to swim in a pristine lake, in the middle of an island, which looks like a beach. McKenzie has good facilities for what it is and is very easy to get to from the car park. If you can get there, go for a swim.

More tables required in the eating areas. You can no longer take food down to the water edge, which is a great idea as it keeps the dingoes at bay.

Coach trip brought us here and it was amazing. Beautiful to look at and safe and heavenly to swim in the lake. Cool water to start but quickly got used too. As usual in OZ, good toilet facilities, and coach driver guided us to best path for quietish access to beach and provided coffee and cookie sustenance. Would love to... More

We have been visiting Lake MacKenzie for at least 30 years. We have also spent many years visiting countless islands in the South Pacific seeking the perfect beach. In our opinion, on a lovely day, Lake MacKenzie is the most perfect beach we have ever seen. Enjoy.

Great place to visit. Has picnic area for lunch. No BBQ facilities. 4WD access only or by tour. Good toilet facilities. Plenty of parking, approx 50 metres to beach.

Stopped off here on our Dingos Tag along 4x4 tour. Was only here for an hour but it was beautiful- shame we didn't get to spend longer here. Very warm water and good facilities on site.

Pristine blue fresh waters untouched by civilisation as far as the eyes could reach. Mineral rich water and sand which made me feel refreshed and rejuvenated,

The water is so clear, clean and pure with beautiful white sand, photos just don't do it justice. The sand is apparently 80% silica so the grains are quite round which makes the sand soft to touch - I cleaned my teeth with the sand, 'though it did take a few mouth rinses to get the grains out of my... Been here a number of times at all different times of the year but this Easter the lake was at its finest! The water had never been so clear and with lovely blue skies the white sand was beautiful. Worth the bumpy drive and backpacker hordes! A must see!
