About
Daydream Island’s amazing Living Reef is a must see on the island. Located at the entrance to the resort, it is one of the world’s largest man-made living coral reef lagoons and features more than 80 species of marine fish and 50 species of coral. This microcosm of the Great Barrier Reef continues to capture the imagination of tourists young and old; with guests having the opportunity to hand feed resident stingrays, sharks and barramundi.

Great info at talk and could sit in the observation room for hours watching fish. Great for the children to help with hand feeding

The fish feed tour went way above and beyond my expectations and involved a lot more then the name suggested. $30 for a child or $90 for a family and honestly was great value.
The guide Jenna was amazing, so great with the kids and an absolute wealth of knowledge.
The participants were given the opportunity to hand feed and touch the different Rays. Jenna provided huge amounts of detail about all the different species and at the end we all got to learn about and handle two different starfish and a sea cucumber.
My son absolutely loved it.
Would highly recommend to anyone staying at daydream island resort.

We have just returned from 7 nights our accommodation was clean modern had all the facilities required including free new movies we were directly over the living reef perfectly positioned our room well maintained yes we endured wet weather but their were options trivia bingo table tennis billiards and when not wet loads of outdoor activities we went jet skiing, kayaking, day trips to Airlie and Hamilton. Never had a problem getting into restaurants even with no booking three restaurants to choose from service provided was good all employees happy to chat and very pleasant. Check in started with a small orientation of the island and check in seamless. Pool bar and tonic bar staff excellent. Lovers cove beautiful with evening musician at both lovers cove and tonic bar. I also had a massage at the day spa which I recommend. We are seasoned traveler’s and I honestly thought it was a great getaway it’s a pity the weather wasn’t better behaved! Oh and we loved the kangaroos all over the island so friendly and special acknowledgment to the godfather of Roos Kevin thanks for welcoming us to your beautiful island and great hospitality. Don’t hesitate to book see it for yourself.

Honeymoon trip with my son to daydream island. It’s been a long time since I have returned to the Great Barrier Reef. We choose this place as we where in need of some sunshine and Queensland hosptality.
Unfortunately both where a bit scarce. First two days rain. Lead us to explore the island. A natural beautiful place no matter the weather.
What caught my eye early was the lack of leadership and training with the staff. Yes Covid left a big gabbing empty hole in staffing especially in Tourism and hospitality. Should this be an excuse for managers, leaders, supervisor and front line staff not to care?
This can be fixed easily with simple staff guidelines enforcement, staff rewards, en powering staff. There was no pride in 90% of the staff. Food was below average and overpriced. We ate in all restaurants and not once I was like okay that’s nice.
Fresh ocean trout was over cooked, coconut-chilli and lime sauce boring. Barramundi undercooked. Kids bolognaise pasta way over cooked , sauce watery and tasteless. Kids meal arrived 20 minutes after our mains.
Duck curry was too salty, no Asian vegetable. Dumplings are dry and overcooked.
Nasi goreng lacked authentic flavours.
Breakfast was a repetition of the previous and following days. The main ingredient can simply be supported by changing spices, herbs, seasoning or condiments at no additional cost. With huge changes in the perception of the customer. Table service was a shambles no matter where you go. (Expect kids club)
Staff is too busy flirting and giggling with others. Several times the drinks been forgotten or taken 30 minutes for a sparkling water bottle and a rum cocktail. “That’s ordering and picking up from the bar” my wife msg me asking if the are getting me to make me own drink.
Rooms been poorly serviced and maintained. No bath plug, no bah robes tea and coffee station rarely replenished.
The building maintenance is in serious new of TLC. Dust, cobwebs, bird poo on light fittings, walls and decorations.
I would love to return to Queensland on a holiday again, however this experience has taunted my expectations.
Having over 30 years of international Hospitality industry experience including Queensland, leaves me saddened and frustrated what the industry is doing.

Nice size island that has all we need to enjoy a family holiday. We experience it in the rain as well as full sun.
The coral regeneration and living reef talks was informative and educational. Plenty of free activities.
We also paid for jet skiing around the island and visited a vacant resort in the next island the operator, James, from Whitsundays Watersport was great.
Three restaurants from casual at Graze to fine dining at Infinity or Inkstone in between are well catered for. Buffet breakfast at Graze is busy all the time. The limited staffs have done well to keep refilling food, but may need to wait for cutlery and plates.

We stayed here for 2 days from 27 th of June till 29th. Found some staff very unfriendly and uninvited Nothing much to do , considering weather changes, food expensive and not very nice. One coffee station available which we had to line up for 20 minutes to half an hour. Dining room Graze room table n chairs dirty. Very disappointing , the staff didn’t know what they were doing. Will not recommend this place to anyone.

An extremely disappointing stay. Most female staff were rude and uncaring. The reception staff were not welcoming and rolled their eyes at every question we had. They did not inform us of the need to book at a restaurant for dinner and of course everything was booked out. No desserts at the The Graze restaurant and even their souvenir shop was closed so not able to even purchase an icecream. The rooms were large and spacious and the view is lovely but that’s the only asset. Hardly any entertainment at night. Everything is very expensive. Would never recommend and we will never come back!

We decided to spend a night at Day Dream on the recommendation of a friend. We are so glad we did!! The resort had a great menu of free and paid for activities available everyday. Totally up to you whether you want to laze by the pool or keep busy. We loved cocktails by the pool and the guided fish feed.
