How’s the Serenity

Having some time to kill I actually wanted to go to the zoo but cost of parking plus entry was beyond reasonable for an hour, and the Gardens are free. So I enjoyed a pleasant soujourn among temperate climate plants like pines and chestnuts. Beautifully curated gardens well worth a visit. And the flying fox colony meant I saw animals anyway

In an English country garden
Oct 2021
Adelaide is the most English of all Australia's capital cities and the Adelaide Botanic Garden reflects this. The Garden dates from 1857, not long after Adelaide was founded; South Australia never had convicts, unlike every other State. The Garden has plants from around the globe, in particular those suited to Adelaide's semi-arid climate. It does, however, have the feeling of an English country garden.

Beautiful place to explore for free!

Love the layout of Botanic gardens. There are so many beautiful trees and flowers to admire and it’s a place you can visit multiple times in the year where it will look different each time as the seasons change. Lots of shade to browse around on a hot day. Excellent place to go for free! Love the cafe situated right next to a lake where you can see turtles and ducks. Toilets available. I can easily spend three hours and even longer if I stop at the cafe and go inside the conservatory.

A nature walk to enjoy! A quiet day to be enjoyed just filling your senses with the ambience of the garden and wonderful outdoors. If you want to indulge yourself in an easy low stress return to the natural world, while still in the heart of the city, a stroll in the gardens is a must! Enjoy.

Variety of plants from around the globe
Jul 2021
Adelaide Botanic Garden has a variety of plants gathered from around the world. The impressive mature European trees have thrived in an environment not necessarily conducive to temperate plants. The arid climate plants are interesting. Some of the gardens are quite beautiful, it's well worth spending a few hours rambling through the gardden. The Garden adjoins the Adelaide CBD and gives great views of the City. If you are feeling peckish, there are two locations where you can get a cafe-style meal or order a chilled-out drink.

It's very pretty, probably a must-see if you're a fan of gardens, and probably worth a quick wander even if you're not. It closes at sunset.

Food a little expensive at kiosk.

Such a great botanic garden which is very well maintained and huge! They offer a free guided tour at 10.30am which we have never seen before at other gardens. The buildings in the garden were excellent, the place looked spectacular in autumn.

Make sure you pack a picnic and explore it all, there is a lot to see

Botanic gem

This is a really charming and quite compact bontic gardens with lots fitted in - there are rose gardens, succulent gardens, heritage buildings, a small heritage museum, several cafes/kiosks and lots of walks and secluded spaces.
