About
Bridestowe Lavender Estate is one of the world's largest fine lavender farms. It grows, harvests and distills over 120 acres of the world's most desirable lavender in picturesque rows, all open to the public. There is an onsite cafe, retail and vistor facilities with ample parking and easy access. The shop and cafe feature a range of unique, lavender focused products, gifts and food available for purchase All parts of the farm are open for visitors to explore. The farm is open for visitors year round (however please check our website for opening hours) Flowering is typically in the months of December and January (please note: during the flowering period a A$10 entry fee per person may be applied) and harvesting and distillation also takes place during that period. Guided farm tours are provided during the peak season, although tours can be arranged by prior arrangement with the farm. Free entry year-round (and 10% off online orders) can be obtained by joining our "Friends of Bridestowe" program and bringing the confirmation email to our gate at time of entry. Bridestowe has more recently become famous as the home of "Bobbie the Bear" who is soon to star in his own children's TV series and is proud to be the face of the current Tasmanian Safe Driving campaign

Bridestowe Lavender Estate

The lavender was out of season, but looking over the grounds was still nice enough.

The visitors shop had numerous lavender based gifts and souvenieres, and the cafe even offer a lavender ice cream

Nice Cafe
May 2021 • Couples
We visited this place during June so there were lavender to see. However the cafe opens at 10am and we enjoyed pan cakes and scones. The staff were very pleasant and we enjoyed our visit and brunch.

Highly recommended

Crossing the river at Batman bridge, and driving for miles, past countless road-kill, through back country roads - we arrived at Bridestowe Lavender Estate. Unfortunately, I must have driven too slowly and we arrived about “4 months” too late to see the lavender fields in bloom. A bit barren, but I am sure they would have looked lovely. Anyhow we had fun in the gift shop.

We enjoyed our trip to the Lavender Farm. The lavender was not in bloom but it is still worth visiting. The gift shop has some beautiful products for sale and the cafe is lovely. Try the lavender scones - yum!! The staff were friendly and welcoming. Take a look at the distillery and dried flower shed. A cat followed us about on our walk around the farm.

Lavender +++
Mar 2021 • Couples
This lavender estate is a family run business that offers all things lavender, and that includes ice cream. While we were there after the lavender had been harvested, there is plenty to do and learn in the off season. The guided tour gave us a good explanation of the growing, harvesting and distillation of the oil.
The souvenir shop has a whole range of lavender coloured products and even the biscuits in the cafe are lavender flavoured.
Don't be put off by the thought of visiting a lavender farm, it is well worth the effort.

Do not pay, you can see for free
Jan 2021 • Friends
Gate staff should make it clear that you don't have to pay. We paid $20 each to get in but only ended up doing the stuff that is free i.e. visiting the cafe and walking in the fields. On the plus side, it smells nice and if you're here at the right time (we weren't) the purple fields would look amazing.
Also, lavender tastes weird.

Smells nice but disappointing
Jan 2021 • Family
Smells amazing and the fields are pretty but overall a bit disappointing. Expensive. Costs $20 pp to just enter the premises. I understand they don’t want a ton of random people walking around but it was not good value. We didn’t stay for the tour because we would have had to wait almost an hour. Icecream was ok. Would not buy again. Was hoping for some nice gifts for friends from the shop but it all seemed so touristy and didn’t feel like buying anything after spending so much at the gate. It’s good enough to visit if you’re in the area but wouldn’t go out of my way again, and would not recommend anyone go out of their way either.

Interesting tour - just a bit past full bloom
Jan 2021 • Family
Celeste was very helpful, all staff friendly and knowledgeable. Paying to see and shop might be asking a bit much, but definitely worth it because of tour and tastings (we had a generous amount of tea, fudge and sorbet!) My 9 year old loved it and the cafe suited us with sausage rolls as well as vegetarian and gf options.

Rip off and unwelcoming staff
Jan 2021 • Couples
Disappointing experience. Unfriendly, patronising and unwelcoming staff with very poor customer attitude. Been looking forward to visiting for a while, charged $40 for basically parking a car. Too touristy, no tastings available. Save yourself the time and money. From arrival at the gate, staff would be well advised to improve their customer attitude.
