About
Everything we farm, available to you. Pick-your-own seasonal berries and visit our berry inspired sweets café with delicious sweet and savoury items. Browse our farmgate for a range of our house made berry products as well as locally grown and produced items including local beers, wines and spirits. We are located in beautiful Northern Tasmania, on the East Tamar River, just 20 minutes north of Launceston. Unlike most pick-your-own operations, our primary business is still farming; we produce the commercial berries you see on supermarket shelves around Australia. Our philosophy is to open up some of the farm to the public so you can get hands on and select your very own produce to enjoy when you get home. Come and enjoy the fun that is picking the best berries at the Hillwood Berry Farm. Much more than just strawberries, this is a must-do over summer.

Poor customer service.

We visit this beautiful farm often. Sometimes for berries only but mostly berries and a cafe stop. Our experiences with cafe food and coffee have always been good … sometimes with little engagement from staff as they are usually quite busy…..we get this. Today we were the only customers in the premise and the service was awful, we felt unwelcome. Our coffee was cold. Please don’t let poor service like this ruin a beautiful venue.

Tonnes of berries!

So many delicious, ripe berries to pick.
We came away with a ridiculous amount of strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. Also very cute cows and tiny horses to admire 😊

Wonderful!
Loved every minute. We picked our own berries and they were great, staff were helpful if not run off their feet.
It was busy but that's the sign of SUCCESS!

Fun picking berries but serious lack of signage
Dec 2020 • Family
There was a lot of confusion in the shop with customers about how the whole berry picking thing works. No signage anywhere to explain and if you chose the wrong line out of the two you couldn’t get an empty punnet for picking your berries. Instead you were sent to line up in the other line. Those in front and behind me in the line were quite put out by having to line up a second time when all they wanted was an empty punnet to go berry picking. There was no need for this - punnets could easily have been collected at either line.

There was also not enough signage on the fields as to where you could and couldn’t go with many people heading into a “closed” field because that sign was at one end and not easily visible. A far easier solution would be bunting along the closed field.

In saying all that, once we got to it the kids did enjoy the berry picking very much.

Visited in January this year and it was a really delightful experience.
Picked our own berries which were delicious and had yummy morning tea sitting in the sunshine. A must go for everyone.

Berry heaven
Jan 2020 • Family
This place has improved out of sight since we last visited a couple of years ago - much more professional, larger, well presented, and the selection of berries to pick straight from the vine was outstanding. We spent about an hour picking two large trays of berries for only $11!!

Fruit picking at its best
Jan 2020 • Family
We had never been fruit picking and this was the most amazing experience! It is such a wholesome activity and so much fun.
Both my boys loved it! Eating more berries than went in the basket! They loved learning about how berries grow and picking their own.
We picked strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. They were the sweetest tasting berries and lasted in the fridge because they were so fresh. We took home so many and not one went to waste.
The cafe was incredible! I can’t recommend the scones more highly! Yum! So fresh and homemade. They sell lots of jams and are so friendly.
