Step inside Australia's oldest operating brewery, nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Wellington, to learn how Cascade has been crafting beer since 1832. Our guides will share Cascade's fabled recipe; a dash of history, a healthy dose of Tasmania's finest ingredients and a generous serve of brewing craft. You can take a tour or just relax and enjoy Cascade beers and Mercury ciders, savour a delicious lunch and wander our three acres of heritage gardens.

The Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week between 10am - 5pm, excluding Good Friday and Christmas day and tours operate daily.

We visited the Cascades Brewery but chose to visit the site & building when on another tour. It is one of the oldest operating breweries in Australia. The history of its establishment was most interesting. I didn't realise that the Derwent River had become so polluted that people were dieing and hence people drank beer so they wouldn't get sick!

Visited the brewery late morning and immediately got great service from Sophie. We ordered a tasting paddle and Sophie explained everything. However once we finished that paddle we went back to order another, so we could taste a bit of everything and the service was terrible. The guy was wearing a name badge but I cannot remember his name (younger... More

We took the "Red Bus" and at the Cascade Brewery, took the Brewery Tour. Guide was very informative, but even after all the stair climbing, didn't get near much plant, only vessels. Saw the Keg Filling Robot and viewed the bottling line through a window. Had some samples included in the tour fee.

I attended the 11am brewery tour in a Saturday and Andrew was the guide. He was informative, funny and knowledgeable. The tour takes you through the brewery processes and also the brewery itself. Being a weekend, there was no activity so it might be worthwhile doing the tour on a weekday to see the processes in action. At the end... More

A great in site to the production of Beer, and how a historical building can still be used. The tasting at the end was always going to be the highlight.

It's a brewery...but apart from the conveyor belt of filled bottles there's pretty much no movement in here. Giant concrete silos, huge three-storey stainless steel brewing vats etc...The tour guide is good at explaining the processes, but you don't really see them. The gardens are very nice. At the end you get 4, 7-ounce glasses of beer or cider or... More

$30 a head sees you get a brief history of the factory and how the cascade brewery came to be. From here you then get a brief tour through the processing plant and bottling factory. After the tour, 4 tastings of your choice. We thoroughly enjoyed this morning, all up take about 1.5 - 2.5 hours.
