The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is Australia's second-oldest established in 1818. These gardens are home to the largest collection of mature conifers in the Southern Hemisphere and it also has the only subantarctic plant house in the world. A great restaurant and cafe is available onsite and it is a wonderful place to visit all year round. Visit our website for more information.

Weve been to RHBG everytime we come to Hobart. This time we bought my brother and our elderly mum so we booked a 1 hour buggy tour. Neil gave the tour and was very informative and obliging. A great place to visit.

Interesting flora of Tasmania and nearby regions; very pretty setting overlooking bridge. Easy walk from downtown Hobart. Opens early (8 a.m.) for a pre-museum visit. Good signage and friendly staff to help you spot special plants. Free entry.

What a joy it was to visit these gardens. They are beautiful at every turn. There are such a wide variety of exhibits that you could easily fill a whole day exploring. Highlights for us were the rose garden, the vegetable garden and the Japanese...More

Visited the gardens and enjoyed the experience. Greenhouse was great and they had some interesting pine trees there of considerable age. Would recommend any gardener to visit and enjoy the surroundings

Easy to get around and not overcrowded as other larger botanical gardens can be in major cities throughout the country.

Beautifully established and cared for gardens. Unfortunately, as part of a full day tour with other activities, unable to explore it in its entirety. I recommend a whole day but well worth it

What a pleasant way to spend some quiet time in the city with nature. Good stroll and the garden is starting to bloom the early spring flowers. If you are lucky, you may get some friendly park visitors!

Took the hop on hop off bus to the gardens. Had lunch in the restaurant (delicious pappardelle with seafood) then strolled around the gardens. Obviously a popular place with locals and tourists alike. The orchid house contained the most beautiful orchids

Some of the garden's 'rooms' aren't really season dependent - the sub-arctic, for instance, is always cold! Others have variations of foliage which make them interesting in the cooler months - the Japanese garden has... More
