We have purchased 2 pieces of art from there and the staff are always knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy. Great to see the support they give local artists.

Interesting and unique Tazzie crafts, made by local characters, some of whom are from elsewhere but who bring their expertise with them. "I moved here from Maine USA to give my kids the cleanest air and water on earth" Makes you want to live there too....

I am not by any means an authority on arts and craft but, with time on my hands before dinner in Salamanca, wandered into the Arts Centre. This is essentially a collection of shops offering local works of art, craft work etc. Located in the somewhat bohemian locale of Salamanca makes it even more intriguing. Quite a few other people... We found this unexpectedly on a Sunday afternoon, very interesting repurposing of old buildings with a good range of outlets.

if you are looking for an arty-farty hit then this is worth a visit. Lots of different stuff and supports local artists and artisans. Tends to be a bit "exey" in my view. Located in an area well worth exploring "behind the scenes". As a Hobart dweller i wander through quite frequently.

The address of 77 Salamanca Place Hobart Tasmania includes performance artistic venues as well as craft shops. These are not "Made in China" mass-produced craft products, but the expression of local crafts people who are passionate about their originality, in using locally grown timbers and fibres and producing exquisitely crafted unique jewellery items. Travellers are well advised to allow plenty... More

An interesting little art space in the midst of Salamanca Place. Not too touristy and great for a gift to take home. Worth a visit!

Salamanca Arts Centre has an array of beautiful old convict built buildings. These host, and are the hub of, art galleries, exhibitions, performances, restaurants and cafes. Take your time to admire the beauty of this place. Walk up Kelly's Steps (convict built). Plenty to see and do.

A wonderful way to spend some free time meandering from shop to charming shop. Enjoyed purchasing local wooden and woollen products and was delighted to find a spurtle (Scots kitchen implement for stirring) fashioned from myrtle, hence the myrtle spurtle! Everyone was friendly and helpful and the prices were reasonable.
