GOR is a must visit whilst in Melbourne. Drive carefully & slowly because Yellow Fox, Brown Rabbits & Possums (other wild life crosses this stretch of road), The cold cold sea breeze blows strongly...even my hair gel are giving way. But the sight is mesmerizing...More

Although, there was some challenging corners in Mount Otway National Park~ The drive in GOR proves to be scenic and majestic. But be aware that not to be too attracted by the beautiful coastline and nice scenery and too focus on driving every single minute.

The great Ocean road, even on a cloudy day is beautiful, no doubt. However be aware of a couple of things. Most of the beautiful picture perfect views you get from viewing platforms/ tracks off the road. I don't mind it at all, I'd even...More

Hi Elise, The closest town to the Apostles is Port Campbell which is about an 8 hour drive from Adelaide. I think 3 days would be a push: a day to drive, a day to look around, a day to drive home. You might be better staying... More

There is a parking lot at the Apostles and then you can have a walk around for about 5 minutes to see all the Apostles.

which is the best town to stay for a nite along GOR from Melbourne to Twelve Apostles? I have 2 or 3 nites for this route, 2adults and 2kids (7years old and 4 years old). we are coming to GOR from Philip Island. Is Torquay a nice place for overnite? or Geelong? or drive further to Anglesea or Apollo Bay? Apollo Bay is a bit too far from Philip Island, we will have to rush to arrive before sunset (winter: by 5pm?). The next town to stay would be Port Campbell or Warrnambool? after this, we will go to Healesville. We are concerned about snacks/foods and washrooms along the way. where should we stock in the foods? is it convenient to buy from stores (eg IGA express) along the way?

Hi Chee, we stayed in Apollo Bay and I think you could definitely get there from Philip Island. Torquay would not take you very long to get to from Philip Island so I would drive a lot further along. There is lots to see... More
