I found this place by chance when trawling through TA for things to do in Melbourne, and we were lucky enough to get tickets for that evening's late performance. Tucked away in a little lane, this place harks back to jazz bars of the past - very small and intimate, hence a bit noisy at times. Great music - and... More

Small , intimate venue, fantastic music. Excellent value for the $20 charge. A bit hard to find the club - but well worth a visit.

This magic place has been open for 11 years so I guess I've been coming here for 11 years! You get a lot of new talent here which is exciting, the owner is good at picking potential so you can be the first to see stars in the making as well as more well known acts. Last night was memory... More

I have been here twice while in Melbourne and thoroughly enjoyed both. The venue is intimate, the staff are great and prices reasonable for good jazz. It can get a bnit cramped if you arrive late so try to get there on time, or even a bit early

A gorgeous cosy place tucked away in one of Melbourne's iconic laneways - Always a fabulous line-up of singers and bands - so you must check their program. Amazing staff, great wine and nibbles and a magical ambience.

I visited the Paris Cat for the first time and will definitely come back again. My friend and I were earmly welcomed by staff. We visited this charming little jazz venue with friends just before they closed for the Christmas break. This place has a great vibe from the minute you walk through the door and we had a fantastic night out relaxing to some live music in the cosy basement bar! Was glad to have booked a table online in advance as it... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
