Has a great set of animals, elephants, tigers, orangutans, and loads more and some of the enclosures are good, such as the tigers and gorillas but Im really unimpressed with the elephants enclosure and setup! 1 acre for all the enclosures is not enough, and if that is all the room they have, they should move them to somewhere with... Great value - we spent over 6hrs there and saw everything except for the presentations. Heaps of water fountains, places to sit and rest, eateries, toilets, etc. Accessed by taking 55 tram from the city and its only a short walk to the entrance.

Over priced attraction, lots of walking around and no animals to see. Come from UK expecting to see so animals that are unique to the Southern Hemisphere but sadly disappointed. The grounds are well kept, just need animals to see !!

My wife and I took our children for an outing to the zoo, enjoyed looking around at all the different animal enclosures, especially the orangutangs and birds. We did a lot of walking but you can have breaks, sometimes it got a bit crowded at certain points which can be testy.

This is by far one of the better Zoos we have visited, the grounds are extremely well kept, the information available is fantastic. The Children loved all the animals so many they couldn't pick one favourite. The cafes were delightful and there was plenty of seating and even there were plenty of people having a picnic on the lawns. I... More

Been a tourist destination it actually didn't feel overly crowded. It's big, spacious and you can fill up your entire day there. The butterfly sanctuary was a personal fave of mine for the day! With a zoo when you have seen it once that's enough but I can't wait to get back there!

The zoo is disappointing, a lot of walking around and not really anything to see.... The entry fee is to high compared to the value provided

Had a lovely feel that the animal enclosures didn't begin or end anywhere particular, occasionally felt like I was about to walk face to face with an animal. Some enclosures you do get get up close & personal. Good variety of animals. The butterfly house was lovely, so cool to have them land on you. Busy in school holidays because... More

As Zoo members, we saw in their newsletter that they were opening earlier at 8am, so we decided to get into the city early. What a treat! The Zoo was really quiet, and many of the animals were being fed by their keepers, so we could get a close up view, particularly of our favourite red pandas. These beauties are... More

Hi Max W, Thanks for visiting Melbourne Zoo. It is wonderful to hear that you read about our early opening, and made the effort to arrive early to see the red pandas enjoy their breakfast! It really is great to have the opportunity to visit and see our animals when they are most active- first thing in the morning! We... More
