St Paul's Anglican Cathedral is a beautiful, historic building, situated in the centre of the City of Melbourne, Australia. It is a place of worship and prayer. St Paul's is built on the site where the first public Christian services in Melbourne were led by Dr Alexander Thomson in 1836. Soon afterwards a small wooden chapel was built elsewhere, and the area became a corn market until 1848, when it was made available for the building of the bluestone St Paul's Parish Church. Consecrated in 1852, this Church was used until 1885, when it was demolished to make way for the present Cathedral. The decision to build on the site of the existing church was made because of its proximity to the railway and soon to be completed cable tramway service. The Swanston Street and Flinders Street corner remains one of Melbourne's busiest intersections today, ensuring the Cathedral is a place at the heart of city life.

This Anglican cathedral with three spires beckoned to us from the Melbourne Visitor Centre across the street in Federation Square. As an architecture buff, I found its Neo-Gothic traditional style to be a wonderful contrast to the modern hodgepodge of buildings in the square. And...More

Lovely building in very central location in Sawnston Street. It has three steeples and inside it has been built in two distinct and very appealing colours of sandstone block. Well maintained and a fine building. $5 entry fee.

It looks impressive from the outside and inside is even better. It is impressive and you can walk all around it. Take note of the stone work.

Beautiful cathedral in the centre of Melbourne. The colored tiles on the floor were great. Go here if you seek some rest and watch the great interior.

St Pauls Cathedral being central is a popular meeting point for people going on small group bus tours. This what brought us here, we were early so thought that we would have a look through the Cathedral, well worth visiting .

What a lovely Cathedral that you can just take your time to look around. Beautiful inside with a lovely organ. Away from the city centre just enjoy the thoughts of Melbourne. The ladies at the shop were so friendly especially the one from Wales.

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary

even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
