The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is Australia's largest, oldest and most popular sporting venue. The MCG has hosted plenty of international cricket, including the first-ever Test and the 1992 World Cup final, countless VFL/AFL Grand Finals, the 1956 Olympic Games and 2006 Commonwealth Games. It also hosted the final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Other sporting spectacles include FIFA World Cup soccer qualifiers, rugby league home and away matches and State of Origin and international rugby union clashes. Apart from its sporting events, the MCG has also witnessed many blockbuster music concerts, and even Pope John Paul II held a mass there when he visited Melbourne in 1986. The MCG has a total capacity of 100,024 people, comprising 95,024 seats and 5000 standing room spaces. The stadium also houses the National Sports Museum, which includes some of the most priceless pieces of memorabilia in Australian sporting history.

Best stadium in the world!

Awesome venue to watch sport, even with 50,000 in the ground the atmosphere is still something else. Also recommend the MCG tour and a visit to the National Sports Museum!

We visited MCG to watch a cricket match and wow what an amazing experience it was! The atmosphere was ecstatic. It is a beautiful cricket ground, very well maintained. One of the best cricket grounds in the world! If you happen to visit Melbourne and if you are a lover of the game cricket, you must not miss this place!

Coming from NSW we were super impressed at the ease of attending BBL at MCG. With 80,000+ people at Australian Open next door and 40,000 at MCG we encountered no long lines or wait. Signage led us straight to our seats. There was healthy food options with no line up. Great seats and terrific atmosphere. Such an iconic ground. Loved... More

We visited the MCG from interstate to watch the Big Bash. The grounds and facilities are first rate, complemented by very friendly staff throughout the complex. We were with friends (cricket fanatics) from UK who were equally impressed. The whole experience made us proud to be Australian! There is much to see and read for free on the walks around... More

Stars lost but on my first visit to Melbourne we had to go to the MCG. What a stadium, only half full (46,000 of us though) but great atmosphere. Drink and food a bit pricey but u can take your own in. Loved it

Awesome ground. Great atmosphere. Crap wine but what a ground to be at to experience a sporting event. Food was fairly priced and not to bad for where it is.
