I am more used to floral-centered botanical gardens and the ones we visited in Australia focus more on trees It was nice to see the school classes gathered in different spots in this garden and the little cafe was lovely. The free guides are appreciated...More

Well designed gardens in a good condition and presenting peculiar features : the "volcano", ponds, wetlands, almost wild areas. We had a great time wandering around.

I highly recommend taking a walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens. It is a large, beautiful place with a nice lake. The views and plants are amazing. It is free to enter. I will return to this place.

Always a must on our visits to Melbourne an autumn morning stroll is a great way to fill in an hour or so. The light was perfect against and through the late colours though the leaves won't last much longer. Delicious fresh fruit scones and...More

Average gardens, relaxing of course but not too much to see, but it's free so that's minor critism when you put it in perspective.

It's a nice park in the city centre. Melbourne is a much greener city than I imagined. Especially the suburbs at least the ones I've seen so far are full of streets with many trees.

We strolled over here from our Southbank hotel and had a really pleasant few hours in these wonderful gardens. We took our time but covered almost the entire area, stopping to enjoy the views along the way. Even though Melbourne is coming into Winter, there...More

It is a nice 15 min. walk from the city (where the free tram zone is). Anyway you can also get closer, for example by trams going along St Kilda Road (St Kilda direction).
