We went here twice, as it was close to our hotel and served food which we like. The first time we had steaks and I asked for a side salad which was not on the menu, but it arrived with the meal and was no trouble. Lovely meal. Steak cooked just as requested. Second time we ordered lamb shanks which... More

The only reason I gave this negative rating is due to the poor attitude of staff. Having visited on three separate occasions every time it seems a common theme, don't smile, why are you here mr customer and love checking phones while "on the job". My tip, given the history and grandeur of the joint, employ some experienced bar staff... More

The Cricketers' Bar at The Windsor Hotel is one of the city's historical attractions especially to those of a cricketing bent. Each time I visit for the boxing day test match I make a pilgrimage here to catch up with Melbourne's close links with cricket 's past. The presence of television is as ever a mixed blessing in a pub.... More

We often call in here for a drink, it is great place to meet up because it is an iconic landmark. Beer is always cold and the staff are always very attentive and friendly.

We were three friends having pre dinner drinks in this Sports Bar in the Windsor Hotel which itself is a major historical landmark in Melbourne. We were at the Bar around 5 pm this afternoon and the place was pretty lively. The Bar is rather small and compact but has atmosphere and plenty of cricket memorabilia. We had alternative plans... I am a foodie and I frequent your pub along with food. First impression, I love your staff and hospitality but the menu design with cost with house wine selection with spirits needs an upgrade The finger food menu provided are tasting mediocre. Very Stereotypical cuisine in the bar and not budget friendly. You must revise the menu presentation and... More

Went in for an evening drink after arriving at the hotel. More like a corner pub bar than a bar in an iconic luxury hotel. Noisy, tired old bar stools. Not much going for it really.

Being guest of the hotel it seemed a must to go the bar. The staff was great especially one waitress we had most visits, whose name we did not get but had a long ponytail and made a mean bloody mary !! She kept us laughing and we had a great time. It is quite a small bar and fills... More

After we enjoyed a high tea, we ventured into the cricketers bar for a glass of champagne. The 9 of us laughed and chatted and the room had a great, relaxed old school atmosphere. Friendly staff.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
