Sought out this laneway due to the reviews we'd read It was certainly a great lane full of cafes and restaurants suitable for families Many repetitious style Italian cafes and beware of fairly forward maitre de who stand and try to lure passers by into...More

Hardware Lane has become a Melbourne landmark as it is on the Melbourne version of Monopoly, the board game. Small and quirky venues, it is worth a visit if not just to walk through.

Hardware lane is another one of Melbourne’s iconic lane way precincts with cafes and coffee houses aplenty. It’s a little more roomy that some of the other lane way precincts. I have eaten in quite a few of the venues here and find the extra...More

This is a real hidden gem. There is a nice selection of restaurants which offer a variety of food with indoor and outdoor dining options. The spruiking can be a little off putting but don't let that stop you from coming!

Went for a walk down the lane. Many places open and a number of people spruiking their wares in a friendly way. Excellent variety of places for coffee and breakfast options. Well work checking out

A great venue for after dark eating. Trendy atmosphere, very like a mini village atmosphere. Several good Italian venues. Very popular so be early to acquire seating.

Fabulous restaurant, wonderful interactive staff and the food was delicious. Very large variety of food. Extensive wine list. Love the atmosphere. I think it is better that Lygon street. Just love this place.

It was great to walk along this lane and be in the presence of all the lovely eateries and smells they emitted. It was a difficult choice to decide which one in particular to dine at, but we'll be back to sample more!

Quite charming during the day, with a big choice of cafés, restaurants, bars. Shady and a good place to eat outside. Good in the evenings, also, but the restaurants are very competitive and vying for your business, offering 'deals' of free wine etc. All pretty...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
