Southbank great restaurants, views and entertainment

Really nice place to just walk on a nice night, watch the buskers take a river cruise, breakfast - dinner or a trip to the casino. Great for visitors to Melbourne.

Lots of places to drink or eat and watch the rowers. Across the road from Flinders Street station. You can continue on down to the Noodle market when its on. Right below Federation Square and accesible via a lift of stairs.

Nice walk in the evening, lots of drinking and food outlets, but most of these places tend to be a little pricey. . Close to several hotels including the Langham. There is also McDonalds for a cheaper option.

We went walking down the promenade one evening to watch the gaslight show which happens after dark on the hour during good weather (well worth seeing) & then we popped into the Crown Casino foyer/staircase area to see the massive Christmas tree and see the Christmas display/show there, also well worth seeing.

I was there with weary feet following a day at the Exhibition Centre and easily found a spot for light refreshment. It's nice for a snack or a browse at most times of the day

I was staying here for business for 2 weeks in the Langham. Top location because the front is traffic free overseeing the river. Lots of restaurants and bars at the water front, outdoors!

Very pleasant promenade along the riverbank with a huge variety of restaurants to choose from. Plenty of people and activity at any time of day and good views of the Melbourne city and the Yarra River.

If you are going to spend any time at all in Melbourne, you should take at least half a day and walk along the Yarra River in the heart of downtown Melbourne. You will not be disappointed because they skyline is beautiful and nearby is a tourism office where you can get maps and individual help from a live person... More
