We really enjoyed our visit to the art gallery. We hadn't been for ages and just found it all very entertaining, relaxing and fun.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia houses some wonderful pieces of Art Collection, including one of the world’s greatest collections of Indigenous art. In addition the collection of Western Australian art and design and other Australian and International art and design is must see.

The art precinct in Northbridge is an art gallery in itself with creative sculptures and plantings. Everything is designed to feel cool and shady. The Art Gallery has a delightful focus on Aboriginal Artists. There was a significant emphasis on contemporary installations. The cafe was a particularly pleasant way to reflect on all that I had been immersed in.

Recently viewed the exhibition showing early WA. Very comprehensive. Liked the Helen Grey Smith exhibition as well. A lovely cool place on a hot Perth day.

The landscape paintings in lower section are beautiful. I appreciated some of the modern art, but my husband, who likes realistic art was disappointed. As for the rest, many people would react by saying: "a child can do that or better".

A great afternoon at the Art Gallery of Western Australia; their current holdings are quite impressive with many regional and International talent represented in their massive Collection - very impressed. Some unexpected wowzers on my visit and true favourites; like Lucian Freud's Naked Man with Rat, a beautiful and elegant still-life by Italian Giorgio Morandi, and post impressionist giant and... The museum provides a variety of art - the majority of which is Australian. We found it interesting and spent a little over an hour there. Don't bother going to the top floor - just a few pieces up there. It also utilizes the old Police Station to exhibit a portion of the art - which was interesting to see... More

The gallery is easily walkable from the city centre. Good collections of contemporary art and older works with some good European work. Great set of Stanley Spencer paintings, Henry Moore, Sickert, Ben Nicholson, even a little Lowry tucked in there.

Find "the Centenary Galleries" first, where all the better art is, and you may lose less confidence in WA art curating. The special exhibition "WA Unknown Land" is not an easy experience: lit so your shadow falls on what you are looking at, hung at a surprisingly low height, no attempt made to collect pieces around a view of how...
