Bit odd that you drive to the top of this volcano.. a walk would be better as it means lots of people and cars. There is no tree at the moment but views are amazing but a bit windswept!

After landing onto windy Auckland International Airport and being greeted by my classmate CK, we took the feeder bus to collect our rental. Booked an Outlander on Zuji but offered a bigger Toyota Estima 7/8 seater. CK drove with the help of MapsMe and on the way out, a spectacular setting sun vista greeted me. Then an off-white obelisk came... More

There is a very good view of the whole city from the top of the hill. It is a good walk to the top. If you can't walk up hills well, you can drive to the top.

One Tree Hill, is a local landmark visible from much of Auckland. Conversely, the view of Auckland from this volcanic peak is spectacular. As to the “One Tree”, a pine tree, it was removed in 2001 after damage from a protest. What’s up there since 1940 is an obelisk commemorating the Maori. It can be very, very windy up there... More

Get up here to see great views of the whole of Auckland. The original one tree was cut down as a protest apparently, but has now been replaced. Interesting volcanic features to be seen when driving up, if that's your thing.

When the weather is fine you can take your time walking around Cornwall park. Within the park is a cafe/restaurant where you can look over the green pastures and relax. There is a working sheep farm where you can walk among the sheep and their lambs. The summit of the extinct volcano offers panoramic views of greater Auckland (you can... More

One Tree Hill is in Cornwell Park and a historic NZ attraction. It provides magnificent 360 degree views of Auckland - harbours both sides. Sheep graze in the park, seemingly without fences as there is so much green grass I guess they don't need to go elsewhere.

Beautiful walk around Cornwall park, and then up to the One Tree Hill memorial. You can drive to the top, but the walk isn't too hard and you get great views of the city!

Auckland is formed from multiple volcanoes, and a great was to see the city is to visit the parks situated on many of the volcanic domes. This one provides and excellent view out over the city and the drive up to the top featured many sheep and lambs grazing beside the road (Haggis on the hoof). A highly recommended stop... More
