Only a short drive from Auckland gets you to the Arataki Visitor Centre and it magic views. Very friendly staff at the centre who will show you the special display set up of the locations used for filming the 800 Words TV series. From here...More

This is a MUST DO attraction for any visitor to New Zealand. The views over the valley are amazing. There are a number of information stations that give a rich history and understanding of NZ.

Spectacular views over Auckland harbour, the hills and beyond. A well presented centre with lots to see and do. Gives a great insight into the Waitakere Region.

Always love visiting this place and watching the movie on the history of the area. Lots of interesting exhibits, a children's area and wonderful views over the forest out to the Manukau harbour, A small coffee area and wonderful ice cream outside the venue.

Lovely mountains, nice homes, much more rain than the rest of Auckland. Some nice places to visit. Keep going and come to some beautiful beaches.

It's great anytime of year. Nice and cool in summer and in the wet weather the bush gives off a really special aroma. But have waterproof jackets and good walking shoes, because you will get everytning wet
