Saw it on passing

We were in Aotea square and th town hall is just at one end. Lovely old building and seems to be very busy. Worth just having a nosy.

Auckland Town Hall is a striking historical building along Queen Street in Aotea Square. The building is Italian Renaissance Revival style and was opened on 14 December 1911 by Lord Islington, the Governor of New Zealand at the time. It takes pride of place in Aotea Square which itself isn't a hugely attractive square but the Town Hall certainly makes... More

Easy to see when visiting Aotea Square. The historic character building provides a nice backdrop for photos taken there.

I visited the town hall to see the annual performance of Handel's Messiah. We were in row P of the circle. Our view of the stage was fine, but we wouldn't see most of the organ. When the crowd stood for the Hallelujah chorus we couldn't see a thing. I would suggest getting a seat in a lower row or... More

Great heritage building, visited here for a concert. It was brilliant and the pipe organ is a piece of art.

The Auckland Town Hall is the home of the APO, have been to a few memorable orchestral concerts here. Citizenship ceremonies are held here as well. Impressive pipe organ (not sure if it's ever in use, but who knows). Park at the Civic car park for best entry.

Quite by fluke we came across the Beyond the Barricades show that had a performance on that we were able to attend. The Town Hall is a beautiful venue with pipe organ and theatre style 2 tier seating. The sound quality was excellent and the environment lovely for an afternoon concert on a rainy day. Free water in the foyer... More

The Town Hall is a great concert venue, although in this case I was one of the oldest there by a factor of at least 2. The facilities are excellent, the bar and rest rooms are easily accessed before and during performances. The sound quality is also good although the bass can be a bit over powering if not well... Could barely hear Matt Corby when he came to perform. He was so quiet whilst the crowd were in a constant chatter. Ruined it for the actual fans. I would have much rather watch him perform at a fully seated concert - I think this would have helped reduce the chatter and rowdiness.
