We accidentally walked up here while visiting nearby Mission Bay and it was a very pleasant surprise. The view from the memorial is really great. You can see downtown Auckland and some of the nearby islands. There is also plenty of open green space to enjoy.

This is a memorial to Michael Joseph Savage, NZ first Labour PM. There is a sunken garden and a pool with hedges and flower beds. The gardens are very well maintained. One gets a lovely view of the Waitemata harbour.

I cam here as part of the Gray Line city tours in October, and we stopped by over this location. The day was overcast, but that wasn't going to deter me, walked around and had a look, it is amazing, very beautiful, green and well upkept.
