During the day the street is a lively shopping experience with an eclectic range of shops. In the evening and night it comes alive with the smell of food and sights of revellers bringing joy and colour to the area.

I normally come here for food. There is a large variety of different cuisines and restaurants on this stretch of road. A few of my favourite stops are St. Kevin's Arcade for Acho's, The K'Rd Food Workshop for Moustache cookies and Mercury Plaza foodcourt for Maruten Ramen. The bulk of the places are between Upper Queen Street and the bus... More

We have walked karangahape Rd everyday from our hotel. Lots of small takeaway kebab places, Japanese sushi, dumpling. Lots of homeless people during the day and evening. We have walked the road all the way from Symonds to ponsonby. Lots of adult sex shops. We didn't feel comfortable walking at night . We did not find any good restaurants as... More

My kind of place, hip, happening and arty. they have all the quirky shops, and arty clothes. Graffiti in the lane ways. Great food, lots of choices.

Had no idea what was what having just arrived from Adelaide at about 8 p.m. This road was literally around the corner from the Hotel as we ventured out for dinner. Seemed busy enough and plenty of eateries, so away we went. At no stage did we feel unsafe (11 and 14 y/o in tow), and it is probably a... More

Yes, K'Rd is slightly grotty, but that is part of it's charm. St. Kevin's Arcade is an architectural gem full of interesting shops, restaurants, and clubs (The Wine Cellar down below epitomizes K'Rd grotty chic and Whammy Bar is famed for good live music) and the surrounding shops and eateries are eclectic and diverse. Across the road is a vast... More

Even with a quick walk down the street, you will find just about any type of food you would want to eat on this street. If you want Thai, Indian, pizza, brunch, coffee, or whatever else you can think of, you can find it on this road. Some people have commented on the road being a little "seedy" but honestly... More

This area has got a bit seedy over the years but it still makes an interesting place to visit if you're passing through Auckland.

If you are looking for street food whether its Thai, Chinese, Indian, Greek, Malaysian, Indonesian, seafood, halal you will certainly find it here. Interesting supermarkets and clothing stores with products from all over the world. Serviced by the City Link bus route.
