Great walk, great views

Walking the Ahuriri Estuary is great exercise and a most interesting place with all the birdlife along the way. Easy paths and wooden walkways over the wet areas, dogs welcome but... read more

This walk was quite underwhelming for us, maybe I expected too much after the reading the reviews.. We found the start of the walk to be quite off putting, and the actual walk and views to be pretty lacking. This felt like we were walking at the back of an industrial area and not a nice, looked after estuary. Again... More

Although the paths were excellent, the walk was basically around the estuary viewing some birds along the way. Wasn't really impressed but if you need to get out of the car and stretch, this would be a good location for a quick walk to stretch your legs.

This is great to walk around with your family or friends. Beautiful scenery and is close to lots of cafes and restaurants! Watch out for the odd cyclist who can't read and the irresponsible dog owners who let their dogs off their leash....

I was in Napier to do training for an event near the end of the year and I ran past this walk. Later on that day my wife and I decided to walk the estuary walk and we thoroughly enjoyed the views, the wildlife sounds, the beautiful vista's and the tranquil ambiance of the setting. This is now a must... More

Walk this route a lot. I used to bike also but now only walking is permitted with dogs on leash at all time. A lovely walk along the estuary with plenty to look at.

Good walk around a very pretty estuary. Easy track and lots of different things to see. Some interesting maori history and a nearby kayak hire place for venturing out into the water.

I had never before seen a Spoonbill until I did this short and enjoyable estuary walk. I thought Spoonbills were an overseas only bird and they really do look like a cartoon-like bird. Easy flat walk so ideal for children and those unable to handle uphill walking anymore. Mangrove and grassy scenery close to the Napier airport.

The estuary loop takes approximately an hour all the way around. It's a lovely place and an easy walk full of variety. You will traverse boardwalks over the wetlands, gravel tracks, and the historic bridge on Embankment Road. Built in 1917, but now defunct, this road/rail bridge is used by the walkers and cyclists on this track. The bridge had... More
