The Napier Municipal Theatre has been extensively renovated to reflect is grandeur in the Art Deco era in which it was built. View ornate ceilings, Fairy nymphs, Lighting and reminisce in the echo of days gone by.

A grand feature from the outside, Napiers Municipal Theatre is modern and yet fitting with the Art Deco style of the city. As you enter you're greeted by classic theater architecture, ticket office and bar. The bar is very reasonably priced ($5 for a beer and $7 for a wine). Inside the theater house it is huge, with a gentle... More

As a part of our scenic bus tour during an excursion from our NZ cruise, this stop was touted as one of the best examples of art deco in town in a refurbished theater. It was a quick stop so that we could get a guided tour of this beautiful little working theater that was complete with many examples of... More

Attended the Saturday performance of La Boheme during Art Deco Festival. Lovely theatre, both in décor and viewing/hearing of the performance. Only complaint the seats seemed a little low so your knees were slightly high. Not sure how comfortable a really tall person would be,

An antique amphitheatre with a modern twist. Completely gutted in the 1931 earthquake, this has been redesigned in the popular Art Deco twist along with the majority of the town. Definitely worth seeing a play, or a show here. The acoustics are impressive along with th einside of the grand stand.

A stunning modern architectural building on the foreshore, the NMT stands out. With both performance and gallery spaces there is always something happening that is worth checking out - at the very least, swing by the gift shop for some beautiful cards.

Excellent source of local history, particularly of the devastating earthquake that transformed the character of Hawkes Bay. As part of admission, the museum offers a seek/find activity for children that involved finding clues and deciphering a code. The result was a price for cracking the code and discovering the correct answer. An excellent activity to keep children engaged and assisted... More
