Went for a tasting with a mix of friends - some, like myself, experienced wine drinkers while others in our group it was their first time. Extremely knowledgable and lovely staff with an excellent range of wines. The late harvest Chenin Blanc was a standout!

Enjoyed the tasting and chatting with the member of staff. Not as commercial as many of the tasting rooms but that made it all the more charming.

Might have been just us but we weren't treated to the same level f experience as others. The server was friendly enough but didn't really invite us to taste the wines. We asked to taste two wines, got them with no explanation. Both were lovely so we bought them but that was our experience. Lovely setting and view down the... More

Im always pleased to show up at a tasting room or cellar door as they are called in NZ and find someone there who is not just there to pour wine and take your money. Although now owned by the biggest vintner in NZ Esk maintains its roots as it were. Our tasting off their wines including an amazing late... More

What a delightful experience. Our second visit to a winery and poles apart from Black Barn that left us speechless by disengaged staff. Esk lovely and engaging young female staff member. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. The four of us walked away with our arms loaded down and great full for the experience. If only we took down the sales persons... More

First we were greeted with some amazing views! Then the two lovely staff members were very welcoming and clearly knowledgeable about the wines. There was nowhere to sit inside though and no music playing so it felt a little uncomfortable at times as we were the only ones there. We felt a little rushed through, not by the staff but... More

We've been here before but this time came as a tour group. Very nice tasting and we liberated a bottle or two or three to take home with us. Sue was a very pleasant hostess and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There are some who argue that a tasting fee is inappropriate for wineries but we have had experience of... More

You have to pay for tasting unless you buy wine. We found this policy inappropriate and unusual in Hawkes Bay. While this winery has a good range of interesting white wines, the reds were less impressive

Not really wine drinkers ourselves. Went in for a look and were treated to a wonderful wine tasting with some quality wine. A good way to taste the sunshine. Worth the visit

We enjoyed this tasting, fee us $5 pp or you can purchase one of the wines. Beautiful views of the Pacific and nice selection if wines.
